黙示録 10:5-7（新改訳JSS2017）　それから、海の上と地の上に立っているのを私が見たあの御使いは、右手を天に上げ、天とその中にあるもの、地とその中にあるもの、海とその中にあるものを造って、世々限りなく生きておられる方にかけて誓った。「もはや時は残されておらず、第七の御使いが吹こうとしているラッパの音が響くその日に、神の奥義は、神がご自分のしもべである預言者たちに告げたとおりに実現する。」

コメント

強い御使い（片足を陸に、もう片足を海に立つほど大きな御使い）が厳粛に宣言しました。もはや時が残されておらず、今が「神の奥義」（神の究極的目的と計画）の成就の時であると宣言しました。この奥義について手掛かりを教えています。「神がご自分のしもべである預言者たちに告げたとおり」のものである。みことばの中で「奥義」とは理解しがたいものではなく、隠されていたものが明かされる意味です。そして今やすべての者が見られるように成就されているものです。ペテロはこれらのことを「神が昔からその聖なる予言者たちの口を通して語られた、万物が改まる時まで」と言いました」（使徒の働き 3:21 JSS2017）。パウロも神はこの奥義について（少なくとも部分的に）自分に明かされていると言っています（ローマ11:25; 16:25; エペソ 3:3-9など参照）。神はご自分の民を、ユダヤ人も異邦人もひとつのキリストの体として、神が初めから計画し（創世記 1:26参照）、目的を持っておられたことを実現し完成させようとしています。ヨハネもこの書の初めにも言及しています。「ご自分の父である神のために、私たちを王国とし、祭司としてくださった方に、栄光と力が世々限りなくあるように。アーメン」（黙示録1:6 JSS2017）。実はパウロがエペソの教会に書き送った手紙にはこの奥義が掘り下げられて書かれています（エペソ1:9-10など参照）。第七のラッパ（終わりのラッパ）の時に近づいている（あるいはその中にいる）今は、神の人類すべてと歴史のすべてを通して持っておられる計画と目的が明かされ、成就させているのです。私たちも今明かされている神の奥義にかかわっている者です。

Rev 10:5-7 ESV  And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven 6 and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay, 7 but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.

Observation

A great angel (so large that he is standing on the land and the sea) makes a solemn declaration.  There would be no more delay but now was the time for the fulfillment of “the mystery of God” (his ultimate plan and purpose).  He does give us a clue as to what that mystery is: that which was announced to his servants the prophets.  A mystery in scriptures is not something that is hard to understand, but rather something that has been hidden which is now being revealed and brought to fulfillment for all to see.  Peter declared that there would be an appointed time “for restoring all things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.” (Acts 3:21 ESV).  Paul tells us that God had revealed at least part of this mystery to him (Rom 11:25; 16: 25; Eph 3:3-9 etc.), the bringing together of all of God’s chosen people, Jew and Gentile into one body of Christ to fulfill his purposes on earth that he had from the very beginning (Gen 1:26).  John also refers to this at the very beginning of this book, “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Rev 1:6-7 ESV). Actually, Paul’s letter to the Ephesians goes into greater depth about this mystery (see Eph 1:9-10). As we get closer to and actually enter the time of the “Seventh Trumpet” (the Last Trumpet).  We will see (and already are seeing) the unfolding and fulfillment of God’s plan and purpose for all time and for all mankind. We are part of this great revelation of the mystery of God.
