ヨハネ 1:40-42(新改訳JSS2017)　 ヨハネから聞いてイエスについて行った二人のうちの一人は、シモン・ペテロの兄弟アンデレであった。41彼はまず自分の兄弟シモンを見つけて、「私たちはメシア（訳すと、キリスト）に会った」と言った。42彼はシモンをイエスのもとに連れて来た。イエスはシモンを見つめて言われた。「あなたはヨハネの子シモンです。あなたはケファ（言い換えれば、ペテロ）と呼ばれます。」

コメント

バプテスマのヨハネはメシアなるキリストを世界に現わすために送られました。御霊によって、聖霊がハトのように下り留まる方が選ばれた者となると示されました。イエスを見て、このことが成就するのを見たとき、ヨハネは宣言しました。「見よ！世の罪を取り除く神の子羊」（29節 JSS2017）と。次の日にもヨハネは同じことを言ったとき、ヨハネの弟子であったアンデレはイエスの後を追って一緒に時間を過ごしました。その結果、このイエスこそ神の遣わされたメシアであることを確信しました。すぐに、兄のシモンのところに行って、言いました。「私たちはメシア（訳すとキリスト）に会った」。シモンをイエスのところに連れて行き、出会わせました。イエスやシモンを見て預言的に言いました。「あなたはヨハネの子シモンです。あなたはケファ（言い換えれば、ペテロ）と呼ばれます」（41節 JSS2017）。これこそ福音を伝える宣教の働きです。私たちはまず、イエスに出会って変えられます。私たちは他の人を説得する必要はありません。もっとも単純な福音宣教は、「来て見なさい！」と言って、イエスのところに連れて行くのです。すると、イエスが彼らに触れて変えることができるのです（42節参照）。

Joh 1:40-42 (AMP)  One of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first sought out and found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found (discovered) the Messiah!–which translated is the Christ (the Anointed One). 42 Andrew then led (brought) Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon son of John. You shall be called Cephas–which translated is Peter [Stone].

Observation

John the Baptizer was sent to reveal the Messiah to the world.  He is told by the Sprit of God that he would know who it was by seeing the Spirit of God descend and remain on the chosen one.  When he sees Jesus and sees this fulfilled, he declares, “Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!” (v.29 AMP). John the Baptizer repeats this again the next day, Andrew follows after Jesus with another of John’s disciples and spends time with Jesus.  This convinces him that Jesus truly is the Messiah, the Christ. He goes to find his brother Simon and declares, “We have found the Messiah!” (v.41 ESV).  He brings Simon to Jesus who prophetically announces, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (v.42 ESV).  This is the essence of evangelism and sharing the Gospel.  When we encounter and experience Jesus, we are transformed.  We do not need to convince others ourselves; just say, “Come and See” and bring them to Jesus, He will touch and change them (see v.42).
