Scripture

John 5:30 ESV “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

(AMP) I am able to do nothing from Myself [independently, of My own accord–but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders]. Even as I hear, I judge [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to Me, so I give a decision], and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will [I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself, My own aim, My own purpose] but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me.

Observation

Jesus was completely submitted to the will of the Father.  He knew the Father had sent him.  He knew who he was because of whom the Father had made him to be.  His only desire was to do the will of the Father. He says this repeated.  “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.†(John 4:34 ESV) “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.†(John 6:38 ESV).  “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.†(John 17:4 ESV).  This verse in Psalms was his heart, “Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: 8 I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.†(Psa 40:7-8 ESV) Jesus also taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done.†(Matt 6:10 ESV).
How does this apply to you?
