ヨハネ8:24-25（新改訳JSS2017）　それで、あなたがたは自分の罪の中で死ぬと、あなたがたに言ったのです。わたしが『わたしはある』であることを信じなければ、あなたがたは、自分の罪の中で死ぬことになるからです。」 25そこで、彼らはイエスに言った。「あなたはだれなのですか。」イエスは言われた。「それこそ、初めからあなたがたに話していることではありませんか。

コメント

イエスは明白に自分が誰であるかを証言しました。しかし、多くの人々は聞く耳も、理解し受け入れる心もありませんでした。ここでまた、自称しました。「わたしはある」であることを信じなければ、あなたがたは、自分の罪の中で死ぬことになるからです。」このヨハネの福音書を通してイエスは何回も「わたしは○○である」（わたしはある）と言いました。これは燃える芝で主なる神がご自分をモーセに現わされたときに宣言された名前です。「わたしは『わたしはある』という者である」（出エジプト記 3:14 JSS2017）。イエスは井戸に来られたサマリヤの女に言いました。「わたしはそのメシヤです」（4:26 JCB）。また、「わたしはいのちのパンです」（6:35）; 「わたしは世の光です」（8:1）；　「わたしは門です」（10:7,9）；　「わたしは良い羊飼いです」（10:14）；　「わたしはよみがえりです、いのちです」；　「わたしは道であり、真理であり、いのちです」（14:6）；　「わたしはぶどうの木です」（15:1,5）；　「わたしがそれだ」（「わたしはある」直訳）（18:8）。イエスは言われた通りのものであるか、偽りであるかのいずれかです。イエスは「わたしはある」（メシヤ）であるか、そうではないのです。だから、「御子を信じる者は永遠のいのちを持っているが、御子に聞き従わない者はいのちを見ることがなく、神の怒りがその上にとどまる」（ヨハネ 3:36　JSS2017）。

Joh 8:24-25 NKJV  Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am (He), you will die in your sins.” 25  Then they said to Him, “Who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

Observation

Jesus spoke very plainly of who he was and yet most people had no ears to hear or heart to understand.  Even here Jesus says, “If you do not believe that I AM…you will die in your sins.” Throughout the book of John Jesus refers to himself as I AM.  That is the name the Lord God revealed himself to Moses on the mountain at the burning bush (Exo 3:14) Jesus told the woman at the well, “I AM the Messiah!” (4:26); “I am the bread of life” (6:35); “I am the light of the world” (8:1); “I am the door” (10:7,9); “I am the Good Shepherd” (10:14); “I am the resurrection and the life” (11:25); “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (14:6); “I am the Vine” (15:1,5); “I AM” (18:8).  Jesus is either who he says he is, or he is a liar!  We either must believe he is the I AM, the Messiah, or he is not.  “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36 NKJV)
