ヨハネ8:51（新改訳JSS2017）　「まことに、まことに、あなたがたに言います。だれでもわたしのことばを守るなら、その人はいつまでも決して死を見ることがありません。」

コメント

ヨハネの福音書のカギのことばとテーマの一つは「永遠のいのち」です。イエスはニコデモに言いました 「わたしを信じる人がみな、永遠のいのちを持つためです」。そして続けて言いました。「実に神は、ひとり子をさえ惜しまず与えるほどに、この世界を愛してくださいました。それは、神の御子を信じる者が、だれ一人滅びず、永遠のいのちを得るためです」（ヨハネ3:15,16 JCB）。またイエスは言いました。「まことに、まことに、あなたがたに言います。わたしのことばを聞いて、わたしを遣わされた方を信じる者は、永遠のいのちを持ち、さばきにあうことがなく、死からいのちに移っています」（ヨハネ5:24 JSS2017）。ペテロも告白しました。「「主よ、私たちはだれのところに行けるでしょうか。あなたは、永遠のいのちのことばを持っておられます」（ヨハネ6:68JSS2017）。イエスが弟子たち（私たちも含み）のために祈られたときに言いました。「永遠のいのちとは、唯一のまことの神であるあなたと、あなたが遣わされたイエス・キリストを知ることです」（ヨハネ17:3 JSS2017）。使徒ヨハネは手紙の中で書かれました。「これこそ、御子が私たちに約束してくださったもの、永遠のいのちです」（１ヨハネ2:25 JSS2017）。そして宣言しました。「その証しとは、神が私たちに永遠のいのちを与えてくださったということ、そして、そのいのちが御子のうちにあるということです。13神の御子の名を信じているあなたがたに、これらのことを書いたのは、永遠のいのちを持っていることを、あなたがたに分からせるためです」（１ヨハネ5:11,13 JSS2017）。イエスを信じる私たちには永遠のいのちの約束があることを確信しましょう。

(AMP) I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone observes My teaching [lives in accordance with My message, keeps My word], he will by no means ever see and experience death.

Observation

One of the key phrases and themes of the Gospel of John is “Eternal Life”.  Jesus told Nicodemus, everyone who believes in him (the Son of Man) has eternal life (see John 3:15).  Then he says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV) Again Jesus said, “Truly, Truly (Amen, Amen), I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.” (John 5:24 ESV).  Peter confessed, “Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68 ESV).  When Jesus prayed for the disciples and for all who would believe in him and be his disciples, he said, “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3 ESV).  In his letter John writes, “And this is what he promised us—even eternal life.” (1John2:25 NIV84) “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 13  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1John 5:11,13 NIV84).  We have the promise of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
