ヨハネ 11:50-52 （新改訳JSS2017）　一人の人が民に代わって死んで、国民全体が滅びないですむほうが、自分たちにとって得策だということを、考えてもいない。」 51このことは、彼が自分から言ったのではなかった。彼はその年の大祭司であったので、イエスが国民のために死のうとしておられること、52また、ただ国民のためだけでなく、散らされている神の子らを一つに集めるためにも死のうとしておられることを、預言したのである。

コメント

ヨハネは、当時の大祭司、カヤパのこのスピーチを記録したのはイエスの身代わりの死を預言的に語っておられたことを証明するためでした。カヤパはユダヤ人の宗教指導者たちとして、イスラエルの支配を握る続けるために企んだことでしたが、しかし、神がカヤパにこのことばを語らせて、イエスの身代わりのいけにえの死の本当の意味を知らせました。敵がどんなに企んでも、計画を立てて神の計画と目的を阻み、くつがえそうとしても、神は彼らをも用いてご自分の計画と目的を果されます（ローマ8:28参照）。ヨハネはその事実をこのように説明しています。「イエスが国民のために死のうとしておられること、また、ただ国民のためだけでなく、散らされている神の子らを一つに集めるためにも死のうとしておられることを、預言したのである。」これこそ神が最初から計画し、この世界の中で働き続けてこられたことです。イエスも祈られました。「わたしは、ただこの人々のためだけでなく、彼らのことばによってわたしを信じる人々のためにも、お願いします。21父よ。あなたがわたしのうちにおられ、わたしがあなたのうちにいるように、すべての人を一つにしてください。彼らもわたしたちのうちにいるようにしてください。あなたがわたしを遣わされたことを、世が信じるようになるためです。22またわたしは、あなたが下さった栄光を彼らに与えました。わたしたちが一つであるように、彼らも一つになるためです。23わたしは彼らのうちにいて、あなたはわたしのうちにおられます。彼らが完全に一つになるためです。また、あなたがわたしを遣わされたことと、わたしを愛されたように彼らも愛されたことを、世が知るためです」（ヨハネ17:20-23 JSS2017）。サタンの企みや戦略は神の計画と目的を止めることも、阻むこともできません。このことを決して忘れてはなりません。

Joh 11:50-52 NIV84  You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” 51 He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, 52 and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.

Observation

John records this speech by Caiaphas, the High Priest, as a prophetic word about Jesus’ substitutionary death for the nation of Israel. Caiaphas meant it as a plot to kill Jesus so that they, the Jewish leaders could keep control of the people and the land of Israel.  But John says that actually God allowed or led Caiaphas to prophesy this concerning the true nature of Christ’s substitutionary sacrificial death.  No matter what the enemy schemes or tries to do to thwart of undermine the plans and purposes of God, God even uses them to accomplish his purposes (see Rom 8:28).  John explains that this declaration was saying that indeed, “Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only that nation but also for the scattered children of God to bring them together and make them one.”  This is still the plan and purpose of God being worked out in our world.  Even Jesus prayed, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:20-23 NIV84).  Not even Satan’s strategies and scheming can stop what God has planned and is working to accomplish.  Never forget this.
