ヨハネ12:16（新改訳JSS2017）　これらのことは、初め弟子たちには分からなかった。しかし、イエスが栄光を受けられた後、これがイエスについて書かれていたことで、それを人々がイエスに行ったのだと、彼らは思い起こした。

コメント

多くの場合、物事の成り行きの中で、その意味を理解し、全体像をつかむのは困難です。この時も、弟子たちは何が起こっているのかを全くつかむことができませんでした。ヨハネは旧約のゼパニア書からの預言を引用しています。「恐れるな、娘シオン。見よ、あなたの王が来られる。ろばの子に乗って」（15節JSS2017）。しかし、彼らはイエスの十字架の死、復活と昇天後その意味と意義を理解し始めました。私たちも時には同じようなことを体験します。「立ち止まって、これまであなたの人生の中の出来事などがいかにあなたをここまで導いたかを考えてみなさい。神は今までどのようにあなたを導かれましたか？歳を取って振り返ってみる時に神がどのように関わってこられたかが今よりさらにはっきりと見えてくるでしょう」（LASB注解付き聖書より）。

Joh 12:16 NIV84 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

Observation

So many times, in the midst of things developing, it’s hard to see the whole picture of what is happening.  At the time, the disciples had no idea of the significance of the events taking place and of which they were a part.  John quotes an OT prophecy from Zephaniah, “Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.” (v.15).  But after Jesus was crucified, risen from the dead and then ascended to the Throne at the right hand of the Father (the ultimate place of glory), they began to realize what had actually taken place.  This is also so often what happens with us also.  “Stop now and think about the events in your life leading up to where you are now. How has God led you to this point? As you grow older, you will look back and see God’s involvement more clearly than you do now.” (LASB)
