ヨハネ13:12-15（新改訳JSS2017）　イエスは彼らの足を洗うと、上着を着て再び席に着き、彼らに言われた。「わたしがあなたがたに何をしたのか分かりますか。13あなたがたはわたしを『先生』とか『主』とか呼んでいます。そう言うのは正しいことです。そのとおりなのですから。14主であり、師であるこのわたしが、あなたがたの足を洗ったのであれば、あなたがたもまた、互いに足を洗い合わなければなりません。15わたしがあなたがたにしたとおりに、あなたがたもするようにと、あなたがたに模範を示したのです。

コメント

イエスはご自分の主としての優越性を定めましたが（13:1-3参照）、でも、全ての弟子たちに仕えるしもべの姿を取りました（イスカリオテのユダを含む）。これは弟子たちに模範を示すためでした。彼らは自分たちの間で、だれが一番偉いのかと争い合い、上に立とうとしていました（マタイ20:20-21；マルコ 9:33-34；ルカ 22:24-27など参照）。イエスは彼らにたずねました。「わたしがあなたがたに何をしたのか分かりますか。」そして、説明しました。「あなたがたはわたしを『先生』とも『主』とも呼んでいます。それはかまいません。そのとおりなのですから。 14その、主でも先生でもあるわたしが足を洗ってあげたのですから、あなたがたも互いに足を洗い合いなさい。 15わたしは模範を示したのです。わたしがしたとおりに、あなたがたもしなさい」（13-15節 JCB）。パウロはこのように言いました。「自分のことばかりにとらわれるのではなく、他の人のことにも目を向けなさい。5私たちに対するキリスト・イエスの態度を見ならいなさい。 6キリストは神であられるのに、神としての権利を要求したり、それに執着したりはなさいませんでした。 7かえって、その偉大な力と栄光を捨てて奴隷の姿をとり、人間と同じになられました。 8そればかりか、さらに自分を低くし、犯罪人と同じようになって十字架上で死なれたのです」（ピリピ 2:4-8　JCB）。 ペテロも思いおこさせています。「それぞれが賜物を受けているのですから、神の様々な恵みの良い管理者として、その賜物を用いて互いに仕え合いなさい」（1ペテロ 4:10 JSS2017）。

Joh 13:12-15 NIV84  When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Observation

Jesus establishes his supremacy as Lord of All (see v.1-3), and yet he makes himself the servant of all and washes each of the disciples’ feet, even Judas.  But this was to set an example for his disciples.  They had been bickering and vying among themselves for the top position (see Matt 20:20-21; Mark 9:33-34; Luke 22:24-27 etc.).  Jesus ask them, “Do you understand what I have done for you?”  Then explains, “You’ve called me your teacher and lord, and you’re right, for that’s who I am.  So if I’m your teacher and lord and have just washed your dirty feet, then you should follow the example that I’ve set for you and wash one another’s dirty feet. Now do for each other what I have just done for you” (v. 13-15 TPT). Paul reiterates it this way, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, 8 He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” (Phil 2:4-8 NLT).  Peter reminds us, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1Pet 4:10 ESV).
