ヨハネ 15:19（新改訳JSS2017）　もしあなたがたがこの世のものであったら、世は自分のものを愛したでしょう。しかし、あなたがたは世のものではありません。わたしが世からあなたがたを選び出したのです。そのため、世はあなたがたを憎むのです。

なぜこの世はイエスとイエスに従う者を憎むのでしょうか？イエスは言いました。「世があなたがたを憎むなら、あなたがたよりも先にわたしを憎んだことを知っておきなさい」（18節 JSS2017）。書き送られた手紙の中でヨハネはさらに説明しました。「私たちは神に属していますが、世全体は悪い者の支配下にあることを、私たちは知っています。また、神の御子が来て、真実な方を知る理解力を私たちに与えてくださったことも、知っています。私たちは真実な方のうちに、その御子イエス・キリストのうちにいるのです。この方こそ、まことの神、永遠のいのちです」（1ヨハネ5:19-20 JSS2017）。私たちはイエスに従う者となるとき、私たちも誤解され、拒絶され、時には迫害も設けることを認めなければなりません。彼らがイエスに対して行ったことは私たちに対してもするでしょう。パウロはこのように説明しています。「彼らの場合は、この世の神が、信じない者たちの思いを暗くし、神のかたちであるキリストの栄光に関わる福音の光を、輝かせないようにしているのです。6「闇の中から光が輝き出よ」と言われた神が、キリストの御顔にある神の栄光を知る知識を輝かせるために、私たちの心を照らしてくださったのです。」（２コリント 4:4,6 JSS2017）。さらにパウロは私たちに戒めています。「この世と調子を合わせてはいけません。むしろ、心を新たにすることで、自分を変えていただきなさい。そうすれば、神のみこころは何か、すなわち、何が良いことで、神に喜ばれ、完全であるのかを見分けるようになります」（ローマ12:2 JSS2017）。私たちは別の世と御国に属するものです。それは神の国であり、光の国であります。「御父は、私たちを暗闇の力から救い出して、愛する御子のご支配の中に移してくださいました」（コロサイ 1:13 JSS2017）。また、イエスが言われたことを決して忘れてはなりません。「わたしが道であり、真理であり、いのちなのです。わたしを通してでなければ、だれも父のみもとに行くことはできません。あなたがたがわたしを知っているなら、わたしの父をも知ることになります。今から父を知るのです。いや、すでにあなたがたは父を見たのです」（ヨハネ14:6-7 JSS2017）。

John 15:19 (AMP)  If you belonged to the world, the world would treat you with affection and would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world [no longer one with it], but I have chosen (selected) you out of the world, the world hates (detests) you.

Observation

Why does the world seem to hate Jesus and his followers?  Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” (v.18 NIV84).  John explains in his letter, “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” (1John 5:19-20 NIV84).  When we become followers of Jesus we must accept that we will most likely be misunderstood, rejected and even persecuted.  Everything they did to Jesus they will probably do to us.  Paul explains it this way, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”  Then Paul challenges us, “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Rom 12:2 AMP).  We are now of another world and Kingdom, the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Light.  “[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. (Col 1:13 AMP) Let’s never forget that Jesus said, “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.  If you had known Me [had learned to recognize Me], you would also have known My Father. From now on, you know Him and have seen Him.” (John 14:6-7 AMP)
