ヨハネ16:7,8,13  （新改訳 JSS2017）　しかし、わたしは真実を言います。わたしが去って行くことは、あなたがたの益になるのです。去って行かなければ、あなたがたのところに助け主はおいでになりません。でも、行けば、わたしはあなたがたのところに助け主を遣わします。8その方が来ると、罪について、義について、さばきについて、世の誤りを明らかになさいます。13しかし、その方、すなわち真理の御霊が来ると、あなたがたをすべての真理に導いてくださいます。御霊は自分から語るのではなく、聞いたことをすべて語り、これから起こることをあなたがたに伝えてくださいます。

聖霊とはどなたでしょうか？イエスが十字架に行き、父の身元に戻る前に弟子たちとともにこの時間を過ごし、どうしても話しておかなければならないことを語っています。その中でくりかえし、聖霊について語られました。「もう人の助けをお与えくださり、その助け主がいつまでもあなたがたとともにいるようにしてくださいます…私は、あなたがたを捨てて孤児にはしません」（14:16-18 JSS2017）。この助け主をまた、「真理の御霊」とも呼んでいます（15:26参照）。ここでまた彼らを離れなければならないと言っていますが、それは彼れのためであり、助け主なる聖霊（ギリシャ語―パラクレートス:助け主、弁護者、慰めぬし、とりなしてなどの意味）を送ってくださると約束しています。この聖霊は地上における悪しき者、とそのすべての悪の働きをあらわにし、罪に定め、さばかれると言っています。同時にどちらも行われるのです。私たちが「御国が来ますように、みが心がなりますように．．．」と祈るときに、それを実現に至らせるのは聖霊の働きがあるからです。聖霊の目的はイエスに栄光をもたらすためでありますが、それはイエスのもの（父から受けたこと）を私たちにも分け与えることによって、なるのです（16:14-15参照）。聖霊は私たちの助け主としてこられますが、それ以上に、私たちは聖霊の働きに協力し共に働かなければならないのです。私たちは聖霊が必要です。必然に必要です。

Joh 16:7,8,13 ESV  Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Observation

Who is the Holy Spirit?  During this time with the disciples, before he goes to the cross and then ultimately returns to his place with the Father, he repeatedly talks to the disciples about the Holy Spirit. He told them, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever…I will not leave you as orphans.” (14:16-18 ESV).  Then, he calls this Helper, the Spirit of Truth (see 15:26).  Now he explains again that he must go away it will be to our advantage because when the Holy Spirit, our Helper, Advocate, Comforter, comes he will expose and reveal all that needs to be done and work to accomplish it.  Although to us the Holy Spirit is the Helper (Gr.: Parakletos – Advocate, Comforter, Intercessor, Counselor), He is the one who reveals, convicts, and judges the Evil One and all who do evil here in this earth. He does both at the same time. When we pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done”, the Holy Spirit is the one who brings that into being.  The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to bring all the glory to Jesus but he does it by taking “what is mine and reveal it to you.” (16:14-15 TPT).  As much as the Holy Spirit has come to help us, even more so we must work along with the Holy Spirit to accomplish what the Lord has planned and purposed to do here on earth and in our lives. We Need the Holy Spirit.  Desperately!
