ヨハネ17:20 （リビングバイブルJCB）　この人たちのことだけでなく、この人たちの証言を聞いて、わたしを信じるすべての人のためにも祈ります。

イエスは、父が自分の内に現わされた栄光、イエスを通して現わされた栄光が世にいるすべての者に示されるようにと祈られました（1‐5節参照。特にイエスを信じる人々に現わされるようにと祈られました。また、必然的にその延長として、自分と父が一つであるように（一致しているように）、イエスと私たちも一つとなるように（一致があるように）、そしてその結果、弟子たちの間にも一致が与えられるために祈りました。「父よ。お願いです。あなたとわたしが一つであるように、彼らも一つの心、一つの思いとなりますように。あなたがわたしのうちにおられ、わたしがあなたのうちにいるのと同じように、彼らもわたしたちのうちにいさせてください。それを見て、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを、世の人々が信じますように。 22あなたが下さった栄光を、わたしは彼らに与えました。わたしと父が一つであるように、彼らにも完全な一致を保ってほしかったからです。 23わたしが彼らのうちにおり、あなたがわたしのうちにおられて初めて、みな完全に一つになるのです。その時、世の人々は、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを知り、わたしだけでなく彼らも、あなたが愛しておられることを認めざるをえなくなるのです」（21‐23節 JCB）。イエスはまた、彼らが守られるようにと祈りました（15‐16節参照）。そして、聖別（聖められる）ようにと祈りました（17-19節参照）。この祈りはイエスの大祭司の祈りとも呼ばれています。そして、イエスは今も父の身元で私たちのためにこのようにとりなして祈られているのです。「したがってイエスは、いつも生きていて、彼らのためにとりなしをしておられるので、ご自分によって神に近づく人々を完全に救うことがおできになります。27このような方、敬虔で、悪も汚れもなく、罪人から離され、また天よりも高く上げられた大祭司こそ、私たちにとってまさに必要な方です」（へブル7:25-26 JSS2017）。これはイエスご自身が祈られた祈りなので、必ず、聞かれ、成就される祈りであることを確信することができます。

Joh 17:20 TPT “And I ask not only for these disciples, but also for all those who will one day believe in me through their message.

Observation

Jesus prayer is for the glory that the Father has revealed in him and through him would also be made know to all the world (see v.1-5);  but especially in and through those who believe in him.  His corollarial prayer is for unity, between himself and his disciples and also among the disciples themselves. “I pray for them all to be joined together as one even as you and I, Father, are joined together as one. I pray for them to become one with us so that the world will recognize that you sent me. 22 For the very glory you have given to me I have given them so that they will be joined together as one and experience the same unity that we enjoy. 23 You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me.” (v.21-23 TPT).  Jesus also prayed for protection of them (see v.15-16). And for their sanctification (see v.17-19).  This is called the High Priestly prayer if Jesus. And he still prays and intercedes for us today. “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. 26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.” (Heb 7:25-26 NKJV).  Because this is a prayer that Jesus prayed, we know that it will be fully answered and and brought to fulfillment.
