ヨハネ18:4-6（新改訳JSS2017）　イエスはご自分に起ころうとしていることをすべて知っておられたので、進み出て、「だれを捜しているのか」と彼らに言われた。5彼らは「ナザレ人イエスを」と答えた。イエスは彼らに「わたしがそれだ」と言われた。イエスを裏切ろうとしていたユダも彼らと一緒に立っていた。6イエスが彼らに「わたしがそれだ」と言われたとき、彼らは後ずさりし、地に倒れた。

コメント

イエスはご自分の前にあること、これから起ころうとしていることをよくわかっていました。そのために自分を整えて、自らを父なる神とその御心にゆだねました。その時にユダに導かれた兵士たちの部隊が園にやってきました。イエスは立ち上がり、彼らのところに行って、尋ねました。「だれを探しているのか？」彼らは答えました。「ナザレ人イエスを」。そして、イエスは言いました。「わたしはそれだ。」しかし、原語では「わたしである」（「わたしは有る」）、神ご自身の名を宣言されました（出エジプト記 3:14 参照）。そのとき突然ユダとこの部隊全員が後ろに投げ倒されました。神の御名の力が現されました。イエスは、神がモーセに現わされた名を宣言されたのです。最終的にはすべての膝はイエス・キリストの前にひざまずかなければなりません、全ての舌はイエスを主と告白しなければなりません（ピリピ 2:9-11参照）。今すぐであれ、後であれ、いずれはすべてのものは主イエスキリストの前にひざまずくのです。ここで、イエスが十字架に行く前にもこのことは現わされました。私たちは救われるのはこのイエスの御名によってのみです。「この方以外には、だれによっても救いはありません。天の下でこの御名のほかに、私たちが救われるべき名は人間に与えられていないからです」（使徒の働き 4:12 JSS2017）。そして、このなは神の御前に立つしもべたちに記される名です（黙示録22:4; 3:12参照）。主の御名に力がある！

Joh 18:4-6 LSV  Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming on Him, having gone forth, said to them, “Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene”; Jesus says to them, “I AM”; and Judas who delivered Him up was standing with them. 6 When, therefore, He said to them, “I AM,” they went away backward, and fell to the ground. 

Observation

Jesus knew what was ahead of him and what was about to happen.  He had prepared himself and totally submitted himself to the Father and His will.  When the band of soldiers along with Judas leading them, came into the garden where Jesus was, Jesus arose and went right to them.  He asked, “Whom do you seek?” They answered, “Jesus of Nazareth”.  When Jesus responded, “I AM”, those who had come to arrest Jesus all fell backwards. We see the power of the name of God.  What Jesus said, was simply “I AM”, which is the name of God revealed to Moses at the burning bush (Exo 3:14).  Ultimately, every knee will bow to the name of Jesus and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (see Phil 2:9-11). Whether it is now or later, all will recognize and bow at the name of Jesus.  Here, even before Jesus goes to the cross, this is illustrated here.  It is also the name of Jesus by which we can and must be saved. “And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 AMP).  It is also the name that is to be written on His servants who stand before Him (see Rev 22:4; 3:12).
