ヨハネ 20:8-9（新改訳JSS2017）　そのとき、先に墓に着いたもう一人の弟子も入って来た。そして見て、信じた。9彼らは、イエスが死人の中からよみがえらなければならないという聖書を、まだ理解していなかった。

誰もイエスが死人の中からよみがえることを期待していませんでした、イエスがくりかえしこのことを話されたのに。目の前で起きていることを見て、多くの困難と誤解が巻いていました。マグダラのマリヤはその一人でした。空っぽの墓を見たときに、だれかがイエスの遺体を移動させたとしか思えませんでした（1-2節参照）。ヨハネとペテロがこの話を聞いたとき、墓に走って行きました。ヨハネは先につき、のぞきこんだだけで埋葬用の布切れを見ましたが、中には入りませんでした（4-5節参照）。ペテロは墓について中に突進しました。同じ様子を見ましたが、何が起きたのかを全く掴みけれませんでした（6節参照）。その後ヨハネも中に入ってみたら、イエスは確かによみがえられたことを徐々に理解し始めました。しかし、この時点ではまだ、イエスのよみがえりをみことばから悟ることはできませんでした。一人一人自分なりにイエスのよみがえりを把握し、それを受けとめるまでに個人的なプロセスを通りました。これから、イエスは一人一人に、また、共同的にもご自分を現されました。これこそ真理であり、私たちも個人的によみがえりのイエスに出会わなければなりません。パウロは、このことが私たちの救いのかなめであると言っています。「なぜなら、もし自分の口で、「イエス・キリストは私の主です」と告白し、自分の心で、「神はイエス・キリストを死者の中から復活させてくださった」と信じるなら、あなたは救われるのです。 10人は、心で信じることによって、神の前に正しい者とされ、その信仰を口で告白することによって救われるのです。 11聖書は私たちに、「主キリストを信じる者は、決して失望させられることがない」と教えています」（ローマ10：9-11JCB; １コリント 16:14-18; １ペテロ 1:21も参照）。よみがえりのイエスを目で見るかということよりも、心で信じることが大事です。イエスのことばを信じるのです。「わたしはよみがえりです。いのちです」（ヨハネ 11:25-26 JSS2017）。

Joh 20:8-9 ESV  Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

Observation

No one was expecting Jesus to rise from the dead, even though he had told them repeatedly that is what would happen.  There was much confusion and misunderstanding what they were seeing.  Mary Magdalene saw the empty tomb and just assumed that someone had moved the body of Jesus (see v. 1-2). When John and Peter heard this they ran to the tomb, John got there first, looked into the tomb and saw the empty grave clothes, but did not go inside (see v.4-5).  Peter on the on the other hand went straight into the tomb, saw the same thing but could not fathom what had happened.  Then John himself went in and it began to dawn on him that Jesus was risen from the dead, he believed. But John specifically says, they still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus must and indeed was risen from the dead.  Each person dealt with this individually and each one had to process through what had happened.  As we see, Jesus also reveals himself individually and collectively as the One risen from the dead.  This is the truth, and each one encountered the risen Jesus. Paul tells us, this is also the key to our salvation also. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.” (Rom 10:9-11 NLT; see also 1Cor 15:14-18; 1Pet 1:21). It is not about whether we see him with our own eyes or not but rather whether we believe what He said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:25-26 NLT).
