ヨハネ20:14-16（新改訳JSS2017）　彼女はこう言ってから、うしろを振り向いた。そして、イエスが立っておられるのを見たが、それがイエスであることが分からなかった。15イエスは彼女に言われた。「なぜ泣いているのですか。だれを捜しているのですか。」彼女は、彼が園の管理人だと思って言った。「あなたがあの方を運び去ったのでしたら、どこに置いたのか教えてください。私が引き取ります。」16イエスは彼女に言われた。「マリア。」彼女は振り向いて、ヘブル語で「ラボニ」、すなわち「先生」とイエスに言った。

コメント

ヨハネがイエスのよみがえりの出来事を記録されたことはマグダラのマリヤに関わることが中心です。イエスの墓に行かれたマリヤはイエスの遺体がなくなっていることで、困惑し、悲しみにおぼれていました。天使たちが墓の中にいることを見ても、心が落ち着きません。後ろに誰かがたっているのに気づき、最初はこの園の管理者と思い込みました。イエスがすぐそばに居るのに気づきませんでした。ときに、私たちは自分の問題の中に、悲しみにのまれて、イエスがすぐそばに居ることに気づきません。しかし、イエスが、「マリヤ」と名前を呼ばれた瞬間、イエスであることに気づきました。そして、「ラボニ（先生）」と呼びました。主は約束されました。「わたしは決してあなたを見放さず、あなたを見捨てない」と言われたからです。ですから、私たちは確信をもって言います。「主は私の助け手。私は恐れない」（へブル13：5-6 JSS2017；ヨハネ14:18；16:33；マタイ28:30など参照）。この時の最も麗しいことはイエスがマリヤの名前を呼ばれたときです。主は約束されています。「「恐れるな。わたしがあなたを贖ったからだ。わたしはあなたの名を呼んだ。あなたは、わたしのもの」（イザヤ43:1 JSS2017）。イエスも言われました。「羊たちはその声を聞き分けます。牧者は自分の羊たちを、それぞれ名を呼んで連れ出します。羊たちをみな外に出すと、牧者はその先頭に立って行き、羊たちはついて行きます。彼の声を知っているからです」（ヨハネ10:3-4 JSS2017）。

Joh 20:14-16 AMP  On saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing [there], but she did not know (recognize) that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you crying [so]? For Whom are you looking? Supposing that it was the gardener, she replied, Sir, if you carried Him away from here, tell me where you have put Him and I will take Him away. 16 Jesus said to her, Mary! Turning around she said to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni!–which means Teacher or Master.

Observation

John’s record of the events surrounding the resurrection focuses on Mary Magdalene.  She is beside herself because she cannot find the body of Jesus.  Angels cannot dissuade or comfort her, and even when she sees someone standing behind her, she assumes it is a gardener. Even though Jesus was standing right there she did not recognize him.  Sometimes in the midst of our troubles, grief so overwhelms us we do not recognize that Jesus is right there with us.  Mary does not recognize him at first, but when he calls her name, “Mary”, she immediately recognizes him and cries out, “Rabboni!” His promise is, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Heb 13:5 ESV; see also; John 14:18; 16:33; Matt 28:20 etc.) But the most beautiful part of this encounter is when Jesus calls Mary’s name. The Lord has said, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isa 43:1 ESV) Jesus also said, “The sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” (John 10:3-4 ESV).  In the midst of our darkest moments or most troubled times, remember that Jesus is always right beside us.  And listen for his voice; He will call your name.
