民数記 5:6-7　（新共同訳）　イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい。男であれ、女であれ、何か人が罪を犯すことによって、主を欺き、その人が責めを負うならば、 犯した罪を告白し、完全に賠償し、それに五分の一を追加して損害を受けた人に支払う。

コメント

良心の責めを負うことは非常に重いことです。しかし、これが私たちに神と他の人に対して、ことを正し、和解をすることの必要性を感じさせ、促すものです。自分の過ちや非を認め、罪を犯したこと受けとめることは非常に難しいことです。神に対してのみの罪であれば、神に対し悔い改め、和解をすることができます。しかし、他の人に対して罪を犯したときは、神に対してのみではなく、その人に対して悔い改め、ことを正し、和解をすることが必要です。「罪を隠している者は栄えない。告白して罪を捨てる者は憐れみを受ける」（箴言 28:13;　詩篇32:1-5； 詩篇51篇なども参照）。使徒ヨハネは教えています。「もし私たちが自分の罪を告白するなら、神は真実で正しい方ですから、その罪を赦し、私たちをすべての不義からきよめてくださいます」（１ヨハネ 1:9 JSS2017）。「ごめんなさい。赦してちょうだい」と言うことはたいそう難しいことではありませんが、しかし、相手に損害を与えた結果になっているときは赦しと和解を完成させるには賠償をすることも必要となります。それも、元の金額だけでなく、それに加えてお返ししなければなりません。イエスがザアカイに出会った時、ザアカイは悔い改めただけではなく、賠償もすると言いました。「主よ、ご覧ください。私は財産の半分を貧しい人たちに施します。だれかから脅し取った物があれば、四倍にして返します」（ルカ19:8 JSS2017）。きよめられた、咎めのない良心はどれだけのお金にもかえることはできません。なんとしてでも得る価値があります。「幸いなことよ　その背きを赦され　罪をおおわれた人は。幸いなことよ　主が咎をお認めにならず　その霊に欺きがない人は」（詩篇32:1-2 JSS2017）。パウロはこのように告白しました。「そのために、私はいつも、神の前にも人の前にも責められることのない良心を保つように、最善を尽くしています」（使徒の働き 24:16 JSS2017）。

Num 5:6 -7 NIV84 “Say to the Israelites: ‘When a man or woman wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the LORD, that person is guilty 7 and must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, add one fifth to it and give it all to the person he has wronged.

Observation

A guilty conscience can be a very heavy thing, but it is what helps us to understand our need to get right and make right with God and others.  We do not like to admit we were wrong or that we committed a sin.  If only against the Lord God, then that is where we must go to reconcile and be forgiven. However, if the sin is against another person then we are obliged to make it right with that person.  “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” (Pro 28:13 NIV84; see Psa 32:1-5; Psa 51 etc.).  The Apostle John instructs us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:9 NIV84).  It is easy to just say, “I am sorry,” but if we have harmed another person then for full forgiveness and restoration to happen, there must be restitution if there has been financial harm done to that person, not just the principle but above and beyond is required.  When Zaccheus confessed and repented before Jesus, he said, “”Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” (Luke 19:8 NIV84).  A free and clean conscience is worth more than any amount of money or any thing we must do to be reconciled to the Lord God and to others. “Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.” (Psa 32:1-2 NIV84). Paul said, “So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.” (Acts 24:16 NIV84)
