神ご自身が結婚の制度を立てて、男と女の間に愛と信頼の契約として、定めました。どちらも結婚契約の誓約を守らなければなりません。残念ながら、時にはお互いに、疑いや嫉妬が起こりうることもあります。律法の中で姦淫について明確に定められています。十戒にはこう書かれています。「姦淫してはならない」（出エジプト記 20:14 JSS2017）。箴言ではくりかえし姦淫の愚かさとその悲劇的な結果について警告しています。「そうすれば、（神の知恵によって）悪い女の甘いお世辞に 惑わされることもありません。．．． 32人妻と関係する者は愚かな者で、自分で自分を滅ぼします。33身も心も傷つき、取り返しのつかない恥をかくのです」（箴言 6:24,32-33 JCB; 22-35節参照）。どちらか不誠実になり、たとえ他に証人もなくても、神は見ておられ、ご存じなのです。そして必ず罪あるものをあばき、さばかれます。イエスはもう一歩先に進み、言っています。「しかし、だれでもみだらな思いで女性を見るなら、それだけでもう、心の中では姦淫したことになるのです」（マタイ5:28 JCB; 7:21も参照）。へブル書は宣言しています。「結婚がすべての人の間で尊ばれ、寝床が汚されることのないようにしなさい。神は、淫行を行う者と姦淫を行う者をさばかれるからです」（へブル13:4 JSS2017）。パウロはこのようにも教えています。「あなたがたは知らないのですか。正しくない者は神の国を相続できません。思い違いをしてはいけません。淫らな行いをする者、偶像を拝む者、姦淫をする者、男娼となる者、男色をする者、盗む者、貪欲な者、酒におぼれる者、そしる者、奪い取る者はみな、神の国を相続することができません」（１コリント6:9-10 JSS2017）。しかし、さらに続けて言って、希望を示してくださいます。「あなたがたのうちのある人たちは、以前はそのような者でした。しかし、主イエス・キリストの御名と私たちの神の御霊によって、あなたがたは洗われ、聖なる者とされ、義と認められたのです」（1コリント6:11 JSS2017）。

Num 5:12-13 NLT  “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. “Suppose a man’s wife goes astray, and she is unfaithful to her husband  13 and has sex with another man, but neither her husband nor anyone else knows about it. She has defiled herself, even though there was no witness and she was not caught in the act.

Observation

God instituted marriage as a covenant of love and trust between a man and a woman.  Both are required to be faithful to their marriage vows.  Unfortunately, there are times when suspicion and jealousy may arise.  The law is very clear about this beginning with the Ten Commandments: “You shall not commit adultery.” (Exo 20:14 NIV84).  Proverb repeatedly warns against the foolishness and devastating consequences of adultery. “(Wisdom) will keep you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of a promiscuous woman…But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself. He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased.” (Pro 6:24, 32-33 NLT; see v.24-35).  If either one is unfaithful to the other, even if no one else is a witness, God sees and knows and has his own way to bring the guilty to judgement. Jesus goes one step further and says, “But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matt 5:28 NLT; see also Matt 7:21 etc.).  “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” (Heb 13:4 NIV84).  Paul tells us, “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1Cor 6:9-10 NIV84).  But he goes on and declares there is hope even for these people in the forgiveness and cleansing of the Jesus.  “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1Cor 6:11 NIV84).
