民数記 7:89 （新改訳JSS2017）　モーセは、主と語るために会見の天幕に入ると、あかしの箱の上にある「宥めの蓋」の上から、すなわち二つのケルビムの間から、彼に語られる御声を聞いた。主は彼に語られた。

旧約時代において神はご自分の民の間に「会見の天幕」という場所を定めて、住まわれました。その中に設置されていた契約の箱はこの地上における神の御座の象徴でした。「イスラエルの牧者よ　聞いてください。ヨセフを羊の群れのように導かれる方よ　光を放ってください。ケルビムの上に座しておられる方よ。3神よ　私たちを元に戻し　御顔を照り輝かせてください。そうすれば　私たちは救われます」（詩篇80:1,3 JSS2017）。そのときは、大祭司が一年に一度一人だけその前に入り神の御座で対面することができましたが、神はモーセに自由に御前に出て、顔と顔合わせることができるようにと許可されたようです（民数記 12:8; 出エジプト記3:9-11など参照）。主なる神は我々と語り、交わりたいのです。旧約において、祭司や預言者といった者だけに限られていましたが、今は、だれでも、主イエスを通して、父なる神に近づくことができます（へブル1:1-2参照）。「．．．私を通してでなければ、だれも父のみもとに行くことはできません」（ヨハネ14:6 JSS2017）。しかし、今は私たちに、モーセと同じように自由に御前に進むことができるようにされました。「ですから私たちは、あわれみを受け、また恵みをいただいて、折にかなった助けを受けるために、大胆に恵みの御座に近づこうではありませんか」（へブル4:16 JSS2017; エペソ2:18; 3:12なども参照）。これを覚えておきましょう。神はもちろんとどろかせる大声で語ることもできますが、ほとんどの場合、「小さき細き声」で語ることが多い（1列王記 19:12 参照）。私たちは聞いているでしょうか？

Num 7:89 NIV84 When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the Testimony. And he spoke with him.

Observation

In the OT God chose to dwell among his people in a Tent of Meeting where was the Ark of the Covenant, the earthly symbol of God’s throne.  “Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth 3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.” (Psa 80:1,3 NIV84).  Although the Lord restricted access to only the High Priest and that once a year, it seems God allowed Moses free access and was where God spoke to him face to face (see Num 12:8; Exo 3:9-11 etc.). God desires to speak to and communicate with us. In the OT God only communicated with certain individuals, priests, prophets, and a few others, but now gives access to anyone who comes to the Father through Jesus Christ (see Heb 1:1-2 etc.). “…No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 NIV84).  He now gives us full access to His throne, just like Moses. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb 4:16 ESV; see also Eph 2:18; 3:12 etc.).  But remember although God is fully capable of speaking in a loud booming voice, he usually speaks in a quiet whisper (see 1Ki 19:12).  Are we listening?
