民数記 8:6,13 （新改訳JSS2017）　「レビ人をイスラエルの子らの中から取って、彼らをきよめよ。13 あなたはレビ人をアロンとその子らの前に立たせ、彼らを奉献物として主に献げる。（口語訳―「これを揺祭として主にささげなければならない」）。

主はモーセに、レビ人と祭司たちを幕屋に連れてきて、そこで主の前に聖別して、きよめて、奉献するように言いました。これは旧約の宗教儀式でしたが、その意味と目的は明確でした。彼らを主の前で使えるために、聖別し、きよめて、特定の奉仕のためにささげるものでした。同じように私たちも主に仕える者となるために、聖別され、きよめられています（イエスの十字架のいけにえによって：ローマ8:3; エペソ5:2など参照）。そしてローマ書では教えられています。「ですから、兄弟たち、私は神のあわれみによって、あなたがたに勧めます。あなたがたのからだを、神に喜ばれる、聖なる生きたささげ物として献げなさい。それこそ、あなたがたにふさわしい礼拝です」（ローマ12:1 JSS2017）。このレビ人の奉献の儀式の中で興味深いことばがつかわれています。新改訳では「彼れを奉献物として主に捧げる」と訳されていますが、口語訳では（またほとんどの英訳では）「これを揺(ゆ)祭(さい)として主に捧げなければならない」と訳されています。これはあるささげものが奉献物として、手に持ち主の前に揺り動かすものでした（出エジプト記 29:24など参照）。詩篇にはこのように書かれています。「私の祈りが　御前への香として　手を上げる祈りが　夕べのささげ物として　立ち上りますように」（詩篇141:2 JSS2017; 1テモテ 2:8も参照）。私たちは主の前で手を上げてそれを「揺り動かす」とき、主の前で、私たち自身を主に奉献し、私たちの礼拝をいけにえとしてささげるのです。

Num 8:6,13 ESV  “Take the Levites from among the people of Israel and cleanse them. 13  And you shall set the Levites before Aaron and his sons, and shall offer them as a wave offering to the LORD.

Observation

The Lord instructs Moses to bring all of the Levites to the Tabernacle to consecrate and cleanse them for service to the Lord. This was an OT ceremony but the meaning and purpose was very clear.  It was to prepare them for their specific service to the Lord. In the same way we are to be set apart by consecration and cleansing (by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. See Rom 8:3; Eph 5:2 etc.).  We are told in the NT “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Rom 12:1 NIV84).  There is an interesting word used here in the presenting of the Levites before the Lord.  It says that they “shall offer them as a wave offering to the Lord.” (see NIV84, ESV, AMP etc.)  This was an offering that was lifted up and waved before the Lord as part of the worship.  Psalms tells us, “Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” (Psa 141:2; see also 1Tim 2:8).  When we raise our hands we are offering ourselves up to the Lord as a “wave offering”, consecrating and dedicating ourselves to Him.
