民数記 14:7-9（新改訳JSS2017）　イスラエルの全会衆に向かって次のように言った。「私たちが巡り歩いて偵察した地は、すばらしく、良い地だった。8もし主が私たちを喜んでおられるなら、私たちをあの地に導き入れ、それを私たちに下さる。あの地は乳と蜜が流れる地だ。9ただ、主に背いてはならない。その地の人々を恐れてはならない。彼らは私たちの餌食となる。彼らの守りは、すでに彼らから取り去られている。主が私たちとともにおられるのだ。彼らを恐れてはならない。」

コメント

Num 14:7-9 ESV And (they) said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.”

Observation

The people have now heard two different reports of the same exploratory expedition into the land that the Lord has promised to give them. Ten of the spies said, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 32 “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.” (Num 13:27-28, 32-33 ESV).  But Joshua and Caleb said, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.” (v.7-9 ESV)  It is very important whose report are we listen to?  Later Moses reminded Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh 1:9 ESV; see also 1.6,7). David declared, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! 14  Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”  (Psa 27:1,13-14 ESV; see also 2Chro 20:20)
