民数記 18:26,29 (新改訳JSS2017)　 あなたはレビ人に告げなければならない。わたしがあなたがたに相続のものとして与えた十分の一をイスラエルの子らから受け取るとき、あなたがたはその十分の一の十分の一を、主への奉納物として献げなさい。 29 あなたがたへのすべての贈り物のうち、それぞれの最上の部分で聖別される分から主へのすべての奉納物を献げなさい。

コメント

イスラエル人は主へのささげものと什一を主の幕屋に持って来なければなりませんでした。これによって、幕屋とそこに仕えるレビ人が備えられるように主が定めました。また、レビ人も受け取った分から、什一をアロンと祭司たちにささげなければなりませんでした。これは旧約において幕屋とレビ人、祭司たちを支える方法として定められました。しかし、什一の原則はモーセの契約以前からも存在し、これらの原則は一般的にも什一に関わるものです。最初にアブラハムと信仰の族長たちにも見られたものです(創世記14:20; 28:22なども参照)。什一をもって私たちは神を崇め(敬を表わし)、主が備えてくださった繁栄を感謝するものです。それは最初の分(初物ともいう)であるべきです（箴言3:9-10参照）。また、主にささげる分は「それぞれの最上の部分で聖別される分」でなければなりません。主は私たちにチャレンジし、また、約束しています。「十分の一をことごとく、宝物倉に携えて来て、わたしの家の食物とせよ。こうしてわたしを試してみよ。──万軍の主は言われる──わたしがあなたがたのために天の窓を開き、あふれるばかりの祝福を あなたがたに注ぐかどうか。11わたしはあなたがたのために、食い荒らすものを叱って、あなたがたの大地の実りを滅ぼさないようにし、畑のぶどうの木が不作とならないようにする。──万軍の主は言われる──12 すべての国々は、あなたがたを幸せ者と言うようになる。あなたがたが喜びの地となるからだ。──万軍の主は言われる」 (マラキ 310-12 JSS2017)。

Num 18:26,29 NIV84  “Speak to the Levites and say to them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the LORD’s offering. 29 You must present as the LORD’s portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.’

Observation

The Israelites where to bring their offerings and tithes to the Lord at the Tabernacle.  This provided for the Tabernacle and the Levites who served at there. But the Levites were also to give a tenth of what they received to Aaron and the priests.  Although this was the way the Lord established for the OT Tabernacle and the Levites and priest who served there.  The principle also applies to giving of tithes in general, which predates the Mosaic Covenant (old covenant) and was first seen with Abraham and the Patriarchs of faith (see Gen14:20; 28:22 etc.). The giving of tithes is the way which we honor and give thanks to the Lord our God with what he has blessed us with (our increase). It is to be the first portion (see Pro 3:9-10).  The Lord’s portion is also to be “the best and the holiest part of everything given to you.”  Here is God’s challenge and promise for giving our tithes to the Lord. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.” (Mal 3:10-12 NIV84)
