1テモテ 1:5 (新改訳 JSS2017)　 この命令が目指す目標は、きよい心と健全な良心と偽りのない信仰から生まれる愛です。

コメント

この手紙はパウロが信仰の息子であるテモテに書かれたものです。それはエペソの教会の中に起こっていた偽りの教理、と間違った教えをテモテが正すようにと勧めるものです。ある者は旧約の律法を守ることによって救いへの道があるということを教えようとしていました。しかし、律法の根本的な目的は私たちにしなければならないことやしてはいけないことを指示するものではなく、罪を明らかに示す、そしてそれを引き止めるためのものです　（律法は正しい人のためにあるのではなく、不法な者、不従順な者、不敬虔な者や罪深い者）のためにあると言っています（9節参照）。律法は私たちに救いを得させることはできません。イエスはその身代わりと贖いの死によってのみ与えてくださいました。律法の総まとめは神を愛し、隣人を愛することであるとイエスは教えました（マタイ22:37-40参照）。パウロもエペソのキリスト者に言いました。「この恵みのゆえに、あなたがたは信仰によって救われたのです。それはあなたがたから出たことではなく、神の賜物です。行いによるのではありません。だれも誇ることのないためです（エペソ2:8-9 JSS2017）。またパウロは「あいはりっぽうのようきゅうをみたすものです。」と教えています（ローマ13:10 JSS2017）。そしてこの愛は「きよい心と健全な良心と偽りのない信仰」から生まれなければならないと言っています。これこそが私たちの教えと戒めの目的であるべきです。この理解の上に、旧約を理解し、適用することができます。

1Ti 1:5 NLT The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.

Observation

This is a letter from Paul to his son in the faith, Timothy to help him correct some of the false doctrines and misleading teachings in the church at Ephesus.  There are those who are trying to make the keeping of the OT Law the way to salvation.  The purpose of the Law is not to have a list of do-es and don’ts but rather to reveal and restrain sin (“the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners…”(v.9 ESV)) . It cannot give us salvation. Jesus did that by his substitutional, redemptive death and resurrection.  Jesus taught us that the sum and goal of the Law was to love God and love our neighbor (see Matt 22:37-40 etc.). Paul also said, “Love is the fulfilment of the law.” (Rom 13:10 NIV84).  Paul told the Ephesians, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Eph 2:8-9 ESV).  But this love must come from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine (sincere) faith. This is the goal and purpose.  When we understand this, we can understand and apply the OT.
