1テモテ6:6-8 (新改訳JSS2017) しかし、満ち足りる心を伴う敬虔こそが、大きな利益を得る道です。7私たちは、何もこの世に持って来なかったし、また、何かを持って出ることもできません。8衣食があれば、それで満足すべきです。

幸福と満足のカギは主イエスキリストとの関係に基づく敬虔から来るのです。敬虔(別訳、信心)と訳されていることばとその概念は、内心の信仰とそれから外面的に現わされる生き方です。お金、富み、持ち物を持つことは悪いことではありません。主なる神はご自分の民の必要を満たし、物質を持っても富ませることができる方でありますが、私たちの必要なものを備えてくださると約束しているのです。しかし、これが私たちの追い求めているものの焦点であってはなりません。イエスが言いました。「神を第一とし、神が望まれるとおりの生活をしなさい。そうすれば、必要なものは、神が与えてくださいます」（マタイ6:33 JCB）。パウロはピリピの信徒たちに書き送りました。「無一文の時にも、何でもそろっている時にも、どのように生活すべきか知っています。満腹の時にも空腹の時にも、豊かな時にも貧しい時にも、どんな境遇でも満足する秘訣を身につけました。 13力を与え、強めてくださる方によって、私は、神に求められるどんなことでもできるからです」（ピリピ 4:12-13 JCB）。そして続けて宣言しています。「神は、キリスト・イエスが成し遂げてくださったことによるご自身の栄光の富の中から、あなたがたに必要なものをすべて満たしてくださる方です」（ピリピ 4:19 JCB）。備え主なる神（ヤーウエイ・エレ）が備えてくださるもので満足するように心を訓練しましょう。

1Ti 6:6-8 ESV  But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. 8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

(NLT) 6Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

(MSG) 6 A devout life does bring wealth, but it’s the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. 7 Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, 8 if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.

Observation

The key to happiness and contentment is to have a solid relationship with Jesus our Lord and God, and to be contented with what we have. The word and concept of “godliness” is the external expression of our internal faith and relationship with the Lord.  It is not bad to have money or wealth.  God can and does bless his people with material things also, but the promise is to provide us with our needs.  But it must not be the focus of our pursuit.  Jesus taught us, “So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.” (Matt 6:33 TPT).  Paul tells the Philippians, “ I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” (Phil 4:12-13 TPT). He goes on to explain God’s promise to provide for our needs. “ I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!” (Phil 4:19 TPT;  “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.” MSG).
