エゼキエル 10:9,14（新改訳JSS2017、JDB）　私が見ると、ケルビムのそばに四つの輪があり、一つの輪は一方のケルビムのそばに、もう一つの輪はもう一方のケルビムのそばに、それぞれあった。その輪は緑柱石の輝きのように見えた。14 それぞれに四つの顔があり、第一の顔はケルビムの顔、第二の顔は人間の顔、第三の顔は獅子の顔、第四の顔は鷲の顔であった。

コメント

エゼキエルは神の臨在と神の御座と密接な関係がある霊的存在(生き物)を見ました。これらはケラビム(複数形の表現)と呼ばれています。ケラビムは創世記に最初に出て来ます。人が罪を犯し、エデンの園から追放されたときに、ケラビムは「いのちの木への道を守るために」置かれました（創世記 3:24参照）。次にケラビムを見るのはモーセの幕屋で、内側の覆いに精密に織り込まれていました。また、契約の箱の上に置かれ、神の臨在はそこから輝き出るものとなりました（出エジプト記25:18-20; 26:1;詩篇80:1など参照）。ソロモンに神殿においても同じでした。エゼキエルはこの同じケラビムを見ましたが、神の臨在と密接に関わり、連携して動かれているのを見ました。使徒ヨハネもこれらのケラビムを見られたようですが、それを「四つの生き物」としか呼んでません。人間が神の霊の世界を見抜くときに、人間のことばで説明しようとしますが、全く足りません。これらの箇所からわかることは、ケラビムは神の御座と臨在を守る保護者であり、監視者であることです。しかし、その目的は私たちを神の臨在に近づかせないためのものではなく、神の御座と臨在の前に正しく進み、創造者なる神、贖い主なる主に近づき、交わることができるためのものです。だから、へブル書に書いてあります。「こういうわけで、兄弟たち。私たちはイエスの血によって大胆に聖所に入ることができます。20イエスはご自分の肉体という垂れ幕を通して、私たちのために、この新しい生ける道を開いてくださいました。21 また私たちには、神の家を治める、この偉大な祭司がおられるのですから、22心に血が振りかけられて、邪悪な良心をきよめられ、からだをきよい水で洗われ、全き信仰をもって真心から神に近づこうではありませんか。23約束してくださった方は真実な方ですから、私たちは動揺しないで、しっかりと希望を告白し続けようではありませんか」（へブル10:19-23 JDB）。神の贖いの計画の目的は私たちにもう一度、ご自分のところに引き寄せ、いのちの木に預かことができるためにその道を備えることです。「耳のある者は、御霊が諸教会に告げることを聞きなさい。勝利を得る者には、わたしはいのちの木から食べることを許す。それは神のパラダイスにある。」　「自分の衣を洗う者たちは幸いである。彼らはいのちの木の実を食べる特権が与えられ、門を通って都に入れるようになる」（黙示録 2:7; 22:14 JDB）。

Eze 10:9,14 (ESV)  And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like sparkling beryl. 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was a human face, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

Observation

Ezekiel sees these spiritual beings associated with the presence and throne of God.  They are referred to here as Cherubim (plural).  We first see the Cherubim in Genesis guarding the way to the Tree of Life after man has sinned and is banished from the Garden of Eden (see Gen 3:24). Then the Cherubim are intricately designed into the fabric of the Tabernacle of Moses and over the Ark of the Covenant to symbolize the presence and throneroom of God (see Exo 25:18-20; 26:1 etc.). The same is seen in the Temple of Solomon. Here Ezekiel sees the Cherubim working and functioning in tandem with the Presence of God.  Apostle John also sees and similarly describes them but just calling them four creatures. When man is given a glimpse into the eternal heavenly realm of God’s throne and presence, he tries to use human language and words to describe what he is seeing but falls short.  What we do understand is that these Cherubim are guardians of the Throne and Presence of God but that the purpose is not to keep us from God but make sure we can properly and successfully come before and into his presence to fellowship with our Creator and Redeemer God.  That is why in Hebrews says, “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20  by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (Heb 10:19-23 NIV84)  And God’s desire and design of redemption is to once again give us full access to the Tree of Life. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”  “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.” (Rev 2:7; 22:14 NIV84)
