今日のことば

エゼキエル 17:22-24 （新改訳 SKY2017）　神である主はこう言われる。「わたしは高い杉のこずえを取り去り、そのうちから柔らかい若枝の先を摘み取り、わたし自ら、それを高くそびえる山に植える。23わたしがそれをイスラエルの高い山に植えると、それは枝を伸ばし、実を結び、見事な杉の木となる。その下にはあらゆる種類の鳥が宿り、その枝の陰に住む。24 のとき、野のすべての木は、主であるわたしが高い木を低くし、低い木を高くし、生木を枯らし、枯れ木に芽を出させることを知る。主であるわたしが語り、わたしが行う。」

コメント

主はエゼキエルを通して、神がユダに対して行おうとしていることを鷲と木々のたとえを通して語られました。もうすでに捕虜の第一波がバビロンに連れられて行きました。残されているものにもう一度生きるための機会が与えられました。ダビデ家の王朝が残されて、バビロン王に忠誠を誓わせました。しかし、条約を結ばれたにもかかわらず、その約束を破り、エジプトに助けを求めました。その結果、完全にエルサレムは崩壊し、残りのほとんどのものがバビロンに連れられて行きました。もうすべてが終わって、何もないように見えましたが、主はもう一度約束と希望のことばを語りました。主は再び杉の苗をつみ、イスラエルの山々に植えると宣言しました。その木は成長し、見事な木となると約束しました。「あらゆる種類の鳥が宿り、その枝の陰に住む」。その意味は多くの国々のものがこの木の陰にその恵みと祝福に預かると言っています。主なる神は回復と生き返らせる神であります。死の中からもいのちをもたらすことができるお方です。また、無からも、豊かさをもたらすことができるお方です。「シオンの嘆き悲しむ者たちに、灰の代わりに頭の飾りを、嘆きの代わりに喜びの油を、憂いの心の代わりに賛美の外套を　着けさせるために。彼らは、義の樫の木、栄光を現す、主の植木と呼ばれる。 4彼らは昔の廃墟を建て直し、かつての荒れ跡を復興し、廃墟の町々、代々の荒れ跡を一新する」（イザヤ61:3-4）。

Eze 17:22-24 (NLT)  “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take a branch from the top of a tall cedar, and I will plant it on the top of Israel’s highest mountain. 23 It will become a majestic cedar, sending forth its branches and producing seed. Birds of every sort will nest in it, finding shelter in the shade of its branches. 24 And all the trees will know that it is I, the LORD, who cuts the tall tree down and makes the short tree grow tall. It is I who makes the green tree wither and gives the dead tree new life. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do what I said!”

Observation

The Lord told Ezekiel a parable about eagles and trees that illustrated what was happening with Israel being taken into Babylonian captivity and how King Zedekiah who was placed on the Davidic throne and given one last chance to survive; and yet betrayed the treaty and covenant he had agreed to with King of Babylon.  As a result, Judah is completely destroyed and eradicated from the land of promise, and everything looks like it has come to the end.  And yet, the Lord gives a word of promise and hope of what He will yet do.  He will once again plant a seedling in the mountains of Israel that will grow again into a mighty tree. “Birds of every sort will next in it”, meaning that people of many different races will come to enjoy the blessing that this tree provides. The Lord God is the God of renewal and restoration.  He is able to bring life out of death and abundance out of nothing. “and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” (Isa 61:3-4 NIV84)
