エゼキエル 18:20 （新改訳SKY2017）　罪を犯したたましいが死ぬのであり、子は父の咎について負い目がなく、父も子の咎について負い目がない。正しい人の義はその人の上にあり、悪しき者の悪はその者の上にある。

コメント

エゼキエルの時代の人々は明らかに注がれていた神のさばきに苦しんでいました。しかし、「『父が酸いぶどうを食べると、子どもの歯が浮く』という、このことわざを繰り返し言って」、彼らは自分たちが苦しんでいるのは先祖たちの罪のゆえであると言って、個人的な責任を逃れようとしていました（18:2-3参照）。エレミヤもこの同じことわざを否定して、それぞれに個人的な責任があると宣言しました（エレミヤ31:29-30参照）。主なる神は公正であり、正義を基とする神であります。ここでエゼキエルは、罪と悪に対するそれぞれの個人的責任を受け取り、悔い改めて、罪を赦すあわれみ深い神に立ち帰るようにと呼びかけています。エレミヤは続けてその罪に対する神の解決を預言しました。それは新しい契約を結び、イエスの身代わりの十字架で流された血によって罪が赦され、きよめられることでした（エレミヤ31:31,33参照）。イエスも言いました。「これは多くの人のために、罪の赦しのために流される、わたしの契約の血です」（マタイ26:28 SKY2017）。どのようにこれを私たち自身に適用できるでしょうか。「もし自分には罪がないと言うなら、私たちは自分自身を欺いており、私たちのうちに真理はありません。もし私たちが自分の罪を告白するなら、神は真実で正しい方ですから、その罪を赦し、私たちをすべての不義からきよめてくださいます」（1ヨハネ 1:8-9 SKY2017）。まず必要なのは、自分の罪深さの責任を認めることです。

Eze 18:20 (NIV84) The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.

Observation

The people of Ezekiel’s day were suffering under the judgment of God. They tried to excuse themselves by saying, they were suffering for the sins of their forefathers and tried to escape personal responsibility. Jeremiah also refutes this proverb and declares personal responsibility too. (See Jer 31:29-30).  The Lord God is a just and righteous God who judges everyone justly.  The call here is to take personal responsibility for your own sins and wickedness and to repent, turn to the Lord God who is merciful to forgive.  Jeremiah goes on to foretell God’s answer to this sin problem, The New Covenant (see Jer 31:31,33) by which, through the atonement of Jesus, our sins are forgiven and cleansed. Jesus said, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matt 26:28 NIV84).  Here is how we apply it to us. “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:8-9 NIV84). It must begin with taking full personal responsibility for our sinfulness.
