今日のことば

ローマ8:31-32 (新改訳SKY2017)　 では、これらのことについて、どのように言えるでしょうか。神が私たちの味方であるなら、だれが私たちに敵対できるでしょう。私たちすべてのために、ご自分の御子さえも惜しむことなく死に渡された神が、どうして、御子とともにすべてのものを、私たちに恵んでくださらないことがあるでしょうか。

これはすべてを言っています。「神が私たちの味方であるなら、だれが私たちに敵対できるでしょう。」 考えてみなさい!創造主、贖い主なる神（全能者、全知、遍在、永遠の神）、私たちの主イエス・キリストが私たちの側にいて味方であるなら、誰が、何が、私たちに敵対できるでしょうか?なんという質問でしょう。答えはただこれだけです。何も敵対できるものはない。パウロはさらに進んで言っています。この主なる神ですら私たちの敵ではありません。私たちを責めたり、罪に定めることもありません。イエス・キリスト自身私たちに敵対する方ではない。かえって、私たちのためにご自分のいのちでさえ惜しまず身代わりのいけにえとしてささげられました。さらに、今は父なる神の右におられ、私たちのためにとりなしてくださるお方です。それゆえに、苦難も、苦悩も、迫害も、飢えも、裸も、危険も、剣も私たちに何かできるでしょうか?何もありません。パウロは続けて宣言しています。「しかし、これらすべてにおいても、私たちを愛してくださった方によって、私たちは圧倒的な勝利者です」（37節 SKY2017）。そして最後に締めくくっています。「私たちの主キリスト・イエスにある神の愛から、私たちを引き離すことはできません」（39節 SKY2017）。だからこの箇所の一番初めにパウロは宣言しています。「今は、キリスト・イエスにある者が罪に定められることは決してありません」（8:1 SKY2017）。主なる神、イエス・キリストは私たちの味方です。敵対していません。

Rom 8:31-32 (NIV84)  What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Observation

This says it all.  “If God is for us, who can be against us?”  Think about it.  If the Creator, Redeemer, (The Almighty, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Eternal God) Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is for us, on our side, who and what can be against us?  What a question!  The answer is NOTHING! Paul then goes through just a few things that cannot be against us. First of all, he declares that God himself is not against us, He does not charge or condemn us. Jesus Christ is not against us; he not only gave his life as a ransom sacrifice for us but now intercedes for us before the Father. So can trouble, or persecution, or famine, nakedness, danger or sword do anything to us? Nope! That is why Paul declares, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (v.37).  And then he concludes that there is nothing that “will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus.”  And that is why Paul begins this section with, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (8:1). The Lord God, Jesus Christ is for us, not against us.
