ローマ 9:25-26（新改訳SKY2017）　それは、ホセアの書でも神が言っておられるとおりです。「わたしは、わたしの民でない者をわたしの民と呼び、愛されない者を愛される者と呼ぶ。あなたがたはわたしの民ではない、と言われたその場所で、彼らは生ける神の子らと呼ばれる。」

神はアブラハムに約束しました。「確かにわたしは、あなたを大いに祝福し、あなたの子孫を、空の星、海辺の砂のように大いに増やす。あなたの子孫は敵の門を勝ち取る。あなたの子孫によって、地のすべての国々は祝福を受けるようになる。あなたが、わたしの声に聞き従ったからである」（創世記 22:17-18 SKY2017）。また、モーセにも言いました。「わたしはあなたがたを取ってわたしの民とし、わたしはあなたがたの神となる。あなたがたは、わたしがあなたがたの神、主であり、あなたがたをエジプトでの苦役から導き出す者であることを知る」（出エジプト記6:7 SKY2017; 19:5-6 も参照）。でも、パウロはユダヤ人（アブラハムの子孫であるイスラエル人）は神の民となるこの約束に足していないと、言っています。なぜでしょうか?自分の地位と力でそれを得ようとしたからです（ローマ9:30-32参照）。では、どのようにこの約束を手に入れることができるでしょうか?パウロはエペソの人々（異邦人）に言いました。「この恵みのゆえに、あなたがたは信仰によって救われたのです。それはあなたがたから出たことではなく、神の賜物です。行いによるのではありません。だれも誇ることのないためです」（エペソ 2:8-9 SKY2017）。

Rom 9:25-26 (ESV)  As indeed he says in Hosea, “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.'” 26 “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.'”

Observation

God promised Abraham, “I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” (Gen 22:17-18 ESV) Again God told Moses, “I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” (Exo 6:7 ESV) “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; 6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” (Exo 19:5-6 ESV).  But Paul says, the Jews (Israelites in the flesh), have actually not fulfilled and attained the promise of being God’s people. Why? Because they were only trying to do everything in their own strength and ability.  “But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in Him. (9:30-32 NLT).  But the Gentiles (non-Jewish people) were made right with God by faith (see v.30) Paul tells the Ephesians, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Eph 2:8-9 NLT)
