ローマ12:18,21（新改訳SKY17）自分に関することについては、できる限り、すべての人と平和を保ちなさい。21悪に負けてはいけません。むしろ、善をもって悪に打ち勝ちなさい。

コメント

パウロはさらにキリスト者として生きることを示しています。「互いに一つ心になり（調和をもって）」(16節)。「すべての人が良いと思うことを行うように心がけなさい」（17節）。「すべての人と平和を保ちなさい」（18節）。これが難しい時もあることをパウロは認めています、しかし、「．．．自分に関することについては、できる限り．．．」と言っています。イエスも教えました。「平和を造る者は幸いです。その人たちは神の子どもと呼ばれるからです」（マタイ5:9 SKY17）。しかし、正しいことを犠牲にして平和を求めるのではありません。「すべての人との平和を追い求め、また、聖さを追い求めなさい」（へブル12:14　SKY17; エペソ4:3も参照）。

Rom 12:18,21 (NIV84)  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Observation

Paul continues to show us how to live as Christ-followers. “Live in harmony with one another.” (v.16) “Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.” (v.17) “Live at peace with everyone” (v.18) Paul does acknowledge though that sometimes this is not possible, but he says, “if possible, as far as it depends on you…”.  We must strive to be peacemakers, but not at all costs.  We do not sacrifice what we know to be right to make peace.  Hebrews tells us, “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy.” (Heb 12:14; see also Eph 4:3).  Do everything possible to promote and live in peace.  Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” (Matt 5:9 NIV84; see Phil 4:4-9).
