ゼカリヤ14:4（新改訳SKY17）　その日、主の足はエルサレムの東に面するオリーブ山の上に立つ。オリーブ山はその真ん中で二つに裂け、東西に延びる非常に大きな谷ができる。山の半分は北へ、残りの半分は南へ移る。

コメント

これはキリストの再臨に関するメシヤの預言です。キリストが物理的にどこに戻って来られるかを明確に教えています。旧約の預言者たちはキリストの来臨について、二回にわたって来られることを区別することができず、理解することができませんでした。しかし、私たちの視点からはキリスト（メシヤ）は初めに心へりくだって苦しむメシヤとしてこられるが（ゼカリヤ9:9；イザヤ53:3-5など参照）、再び来られるときには勝利者なる、主権者なる王として戻られることが分かっています（マタイ24:30-31；黙示録 1:7; 11:15; 19:11-16など参照）。イエスは最初の地上での働きを終えて、オリブの山から天に昇られたときに弟子たちに伝えられました。「あなたがたを離れて天に上げられたこのイエスは、天に上って行くのをあなたがたが見たのと同じ有様で、またおいでになります」（使徒の働き 1:11 SKY17）。天に昇られた同じありさまで、栄光をもって、ご自分の聖徒たち（贖われた者、私たちも含む）と共に帰って来られます。そして、私たちは王であるイエスと共に永遠に支配し治めるのです（1テサロニケ 3:13; 黙示録20:6など参照）。パウロはテサロニケの教会にこの真理を持って互いに励まし慰めるようにと教えました。「すなわち、号令と御使いのかしらの声と神のラッパの響きとともに、主ご自身が天から下って来られます。そしてまず、キリストにある死者がよみがえり、それから、生き残っている私たちが、彼らと一緒に雲に包まれて引き上げられ、空中で主と会うのです。こうして私たちは、いつまでも主とともにいることになります。ですから、これらのことばをもって互いに励まし合いなさい」（1テサロニケ 4:16-18 SKY17）。

Zec 14:4 (NLT) On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west. Half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south.

Observation

This is a Messianic prophecy of His return. It tells us the exact location where Christ will physically return.  In the OT the prophets could not see or understand that there would be two “comings” of the Messiah. But from our vantage point we see that Christ (The Messiah) came first as the humble, suffering Messiah (see Zech 9:9; Isa 53:3-5 etc.), but will once again come as the triumphant and reigning King (see Rev 1:7; 11:15; 19:11-16; Matt 24:30-31 etc.).  When Jesus finished his first earthly coming and ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives, we are told, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (Act 1:11 NIV84) He will come in glory with all His Saints (the Redeemed of the Lord, that is us) to the same place from which he left, and we will rule and reign with Him. (see 1Thes 3:13; Rev 20:6 etc.)  Paul tells the Thessalonians to encourage and comfort one another with this truth. “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.” (1Thes 4:1.6-18 NIV84)
