2テモテ 4:7-8（新改訳SKY17）　私は勇敢に戦い抜き、走るべき道のりを走り終え、信仰を守り通しました。　あとは、義の栄冠が私のために用意されているだけです。その日には、正しいさばき主である主が、それを私に授けてくださいます。私だけでなく、主の現れを慕い求めている人には、だれにでも授けてくださるのです。

コメント

パウロは自分の人生の終わりに近づいていることを理解していました（6節参照）。これまでキリストのため、御国のためにすべてを尽くしてささげてきました。そこで、宣言しました。「私は勇敢に戦い抜き、走るべき道のりを走り終え、信仰を守り通しました。」前の手紙ではテモテにも戒めました。「信仰の戦いを立派に戦い．．．なさい」（1テモテ6:12 SKY17）。イエス様もこの世のためだけに生きることは愚かであると警告しました。「愚か者、お前の魂は、今夜お前彼取り去られる。お前が用意した物は、いったいだれのものになるのか。自分のために蓄えても、神に対して富まないものはこのとおりです。」（ルカ12:20-21 SKY17）。どの世界のために生きているのでしょうか？イエスは何が最も重要なか教えてくれました。「まず神の国と神の義を求めなさい。そうすれば、これらのものはすべて、それに加えて与えられます」（マタイ6:33 SKY17）。

2Ti 4:7-8 ESV  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8  Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Observation

Paul knows that he is at the end of his journey of life (see v. 6).  He has given everything for the cause of Christ and the Kingdom. He makes this declaration: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” In his previous letter he had challenged Timothy to do the same. “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1Tim 6:12 ESV)  This is the only life worth living and that has eternal rewards.  Jesus warned those who were only living for this world, “’Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:20-21 ESV) What world are we living for? Jesus told us what is most important, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matt 6:33 ESV)
