今日のことば
マタイ10:38-39（新改訳SKY17）　自分の十字架を負ってわたしに従って来ない者は、わたしにふさわしい者ではありません。39自分のいのちを得る者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分のいのちを失う者は、それを得るのです。

コメント
イエスはいくつか対象的なものをあげて、私たちの生活、いのちにあって何が一番大切で第一の愛する優先順位を考えさせられています。もちろん、私たちの家族、夫、妻、子供、兄弟など愛することは大切ですが、主なる神、イエス・キリストに比べると優先順位が問われます。これら非常に大切な者も、イエスに対する愛を妨げるものとなれば、敵とみなさなければならないと教えています。自分のいのちももちろん大切にしなければなりませんが、イエスを愛することに比べると、自分を捨てて、その十字架を負っても、イエスに従わなければなりません。最終的にここにいのちがあり、永遠の報いがあるのです。ルカはこのイエスの教えをもう少し解説して話しています。「人は、たとえ全世界を手に入れても、自分自身を失い、損じたら、何の益があるでしょうか。26だれでも、わたしとわたしのことばを恥じるなら、人の子もまた、自分と父と聖なる御使いの栄光を帯びてやって来るとき、その人を恥じます」（ルカ9:25-26 SKY17）。

Mat 10:38  And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Observation
In a series of contrasts Jesus shows that He alone must be the most important and first priority of our lives. Our families are important and desire our utmost love and care but if they stand in the way of our following and serving the Lord Jesus then, they be come an enemy. Our life itself is very precious and should be protected and given priority.  However, if it comes between our love for the Lord our God, Lord Jesus Christ, then we must deny self, take up our cross and follow Jesus.  Ultimately, this is where we find life and reward.  Luke goes on to expound on this teaching of Jesus.  “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.”
