詩篇94:17-19（新改訳SKY17）　もしも主が私の助けでなかったなら　私のたましいは　ただちに　沈黙のうちに　とどまったでしょう。18「私の足はよろけています」と私が言ったなら　主よ　あなたの恵みで　私を支えてください。19私のうちで　思い煩いが増すときに　あなたの慰めで私のたましいを喜ばせてください。

この詩篇は悪に対する神のさばきを現しています。神の名前の一つは「報復の神」です（ヤーウエイ・ゴモラ、エレミヤ51:56を参照）。主は言われます「復讐はわたしのもの。わたしが報復する」（ローマ12:19 SKY17）。この詩篇の最初は「復讐の神である主よ。あなたのご栄光を輝かせてください。地上の人々をさばき、おごり高ぶる者どもを罰してください」（1-2節 JCB）と始めます。しかし、神が悪しき者にそのさばきを注がれるとき、その波紋が私たちにまで及ぶこともあります。その中でこの詩篇の著者は呼ばわっています。「神よ、私はよろめいています」（JCB;　足を滑らせています）。しかし続けて言っています、「私のうちで　思い煩いが増すときに　あなたの慰めで私のたましいを喜ばせてください」（SKY17）。そして、言います。「しかし主は私の砦となり　私の神は　私の避け所の岩となられました」（22節 SKY17）。主なる神はあわれみに富むお方ですが、悪しき者を必ずさばかれます（出エジプト記　34:6-7； 伝道の書 3:17； 使徒の働き 17:31 など参照）。

Psa 94:17-19 AFV  Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. 18 When I said, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O LORD, held me up. 19 In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me Your comforts delight my soul. 

Observation
This Psalm is about the judgements of God against the wicked.  One of God’s names is God of Recompense (Yahweh-Gmolah see Jer 51:56). He is the one who says, “Vengeance is mine, I will recompense.” (Rom 12:19 AFV).  This Psalms starts out, “O LORD God to whom vengeance belongs, O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show Yourself. 2 Lift up Yourself, Judge of the earth; render recompense to the proud.” (v.1-2 AFV) But even in pouring out his judgement on the wicked, the effects and ripples can cause us to be unsettled and even fearful.  This is where the Psalmist proclaims, “My foot is slipping” (NIV84) But also says, “In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me Your comforts delight my soul.” (AFV).  He goes on to declare, “But the LORD is my fortress, and my God is the  Rock of my refuge.” (v.22 AFV) Although God is merciful he also judges the wicked (see Exo 34:6-7; Ecc 3:17; Acts 17:31 etc.)
