シメオンという名の人は神の霊に満ちていた。聖霊に導かれていまし生きていました。彼は死ぬ前に神の約束のメシヤを自分の目で見ると約束されました。聖霊に導かれて宮に来られた日に、だれも知りえないはずの赤んぼの献児式とマリヤのきよめの儀式に来られた貧しい夫婦を見かけ、その子がメシヤなるキリストであることが示されました。そこで語られた言葉はキリストの生涯と生まれた目的を現された預言のことばとなりました。「この方はすべての国を照らす光」、これは「すべての人のために備えられたメシヤ（救い主）」と示されました。さらに、「あなたの民イスラエルの光栄です」と宣言しました。この語られた順番も非常に興味深いです。すべての人の救い主ですが、特に、御民イスラエルの救い主です。パウロはこのように言いました。「福音は、ユダヤ人をはじめギリシア人（と他の異邦人）にも、信じるすべての人に救いをもたらす神の力です」（ローマ 1:16 JSS2017）。テモテにも言いました。「すべての人々、特に信じる人々の救い主である生ける神に、望みを置いているからです」（1テモテ4:10 JSS2017）。使徒ヨハネもこのように言いました。「私たちは、御父が御子を世の救い主として遣わされたのを見て、その証しをしています」（1ヨハネ 4:14 JSS2017）。全世界の全ての人々の救い主としてお生まれになったメシヤ、主イエスの誕生をお祝い、感謝しましょう。Merry Christmas!!

Luk 2:30-32 (NIV84) For my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared in the sight of all people, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.”

(AMP) For with my [own] eyes I have seen Your Salvation, [Isa. 52:10.] 31 Which You have ordained and prepared before (in the presence of) all peoples, 32 A Light for revelation to the Gentiles [to disclose what was before unknown] and [to bring] praise and honor and glory to Your people Israel. [Isa. 42:6; 49:6.]

Observation

A man by the name of Simeon was a man filled with the Holy Spirit of God and was led by the Spirit.  He had no way of knowing that the baby that this poor unknown couple was bringing to dedicate and perform the rituals of purification for Mary was anything other than just another baby.  But the Holy Spirit revealed to him that He would see the Messiah before he died and then the Holy Spirit revealed to him that This Was the Messiah.  His prophetic words were also very revealing of the mission and purpose of the Messiah.  “A light of revelation to the Gentiles” which was “ordained and prepared in the presence of all peoples.” But then he also adds “to bring praise honor and glory to your people Israel.”  The order is also very revealing of God’s intent and purpose.  The birth of Messiah was first for “all peoples”, but it was specifically and especially for His people Israel.  Paul says it this way, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” (Rom 1:16 NIV84) To Timothy Paul said, “we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.” (1Tim 4:10 NIV84) The Apostle John said, “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” (1John 4:14 NIV84)
