箴言30:4（新改訳JSS2017）　だれが天に上り、また降りて来たのか。だれが風を両手のひらに集めたのか。だれが水を衣のうちに包んだのか。だれが地のすべての限界を堅く定めたのか。その名は何か、その子の名は何か。あなたは確かに知っている。5神のことばは、すべて精錬されている。神は、ご自分に身を避ける者の盾。

What is His name—and His Son’s name? Tell me if you know! 5 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection.

Observation

The Hebrew Shema was memorized and quoted by all Jews. “Hear, O Israel: Our God YHWH—YHWH is one!  And you have loved your God YHWH with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.” (Deu 6:4-5 LSV) But the name of God was so holy that no one would ever say it out loud, so they would only write the Tetragrammaton YHWH (or Yahweh) and say “Adonai”, which means “Lord”.  God revealed himself to Moses by saying, “The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His Name?’ What should I say to them?” 14 God answered Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. ” Then He said, “You are to say to Bnei-Yisrael, ‘I AM’ has sent me to you.” (Exo 3:14-15 TLV)  “I appear to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty; as for My Name YHWH, I have not been known to them;” (Exo 6:3 LSV)  The writer of this portion of Proverbs writes an interesting question, “Who created the whole wide world? What is His name—and His Son’s name?”  This question was not answered until the angel came to Mary. “You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus…”The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”  When the disciples were commissioned and sent out they were told to baptize their disciples “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Sprit.”  What is that name?  They preached the Gospel of the Kingdom and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 28:31 NIV84; Rom 5:1; 1Cor 1:3). His name is Lord Jesus Christ.
