ローマ9:14-16（新改訳SKY2017）それでは、どのように言うべきでしょうか。神に不正があるのでしょうか。決してそんなことはありません。15神はモーセに言われました。「わたしはあわれもうと思う者をあわれみ、いつくしもうと思う者をいつくしむ。」16ですから、これは人の願いや努力によるのではなく、あわれんでくださる神によるのです。

主なる神はご自分をモーセにこのようにあらわされました。「主は彼の前を通り過ぎるとき、こう宣言された。「主、主は、あわれみ深く、情け深い神。怒るのに遅く、恵みとまことに富み、恵みを千代まで保ち、咎と背きと罪を赦す。しかし、罰すべき者を必ず罰して、父の咎を子に、さらに子の子に、三代、四代に報いる者である」（出エジプト記 34:6-7 SKY2017）。しかし、神は特にあわれみといつくしみを示す人がいます。「あなたの慈しみに生きる人に あなたは慈しみを示し 無垢な人には無垢に 清い人には清くふるまい 心の曲がった者には背を向けられる」（詩篇18:25-26 新共同訳）。イエスも同じことを教えました。「あわれみ深い者は幸いです。その人たちはあわれみを受けるからです」（マタイ5:7 SKY2017）。あわれみを受けるにふさわしい者はいません。だからこそあわれみなのです。主が求めておられることはこれです。「人よ、彼はさきによい事のなんであるかをあなたに告げられた。主のあなたに求められることは、ただ公義をおこない、いつくしみを愛し、へりくだってあなたの神と共に歩むことではないか」 （ミカ 6:8 口語訳）。神のあわれみを受けるために最も重要なのは神のあわれみに応答することです。最終的に主なる神は完全に公正なる神であり、完全にあわれみ（いつくしみ）深い神であり、「あわれもうと思う者をあわれみ、いつくしもうと思う者をいつくしむ」神であるのです。主は私たちにこのように招いています。「あなたがたに勧めます。神の恵みを無駄に受けないようにしてください。神は言われます。「恵みの時に、わたしはあなたに答え、救いの日に、あなたを助ける。」 見よ、今は恵みの時、今は救いの日です」 （2コリント 6:1-2 SKY2017）。

Rom 9:14-16 (NIV84)  What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

Observation

Here is how God revealed himself to Moses, “The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” (Exo 34:6-7 ESV).  But we are also told that there are a certain kind of people that God particularly shows his mercy. “With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless.” (Psa 18:25 ESV).  Jesus also taught the same, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” (Mat 5:7 ESV).  No one deserves mercy, that is why it is mercy.  Here is what God requires of us, “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Mic 6:8 NIV84).  The most important thing we can do is to respond to and receive God’s mercy.  Ultimately, we will see that the perfectly Just and Merciful God “will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”  Here is the Lord God’s invitation.  “As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. 2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.” (2Cor 6:1-2 NLT)
