ローマ10:17（新共同訳）そのように、信仰は聞くことから始まり、聞くことは、キリストについてのみことばによるのです。

（口語訳）したがって、信仰は聞くことによるのであり、聞くことはキリストの言葉から来るのである。

パウロは神のことばを聞き応答するかぎは信仰であると教えています。へブル書にはこのようにあります。「私たちにも良い知らせが伝えられていて、あの人たちと同じなのです。けれども彼らには、聞いたみことばが益となりませんでした。みことばが、聞いた人たちに信仰によって結びつけられなかったからです」（へブル 4:2 SKY2017）。信仰は私たちが聞いたことから始まります（何回も同じことを聞いたら、信じる傾向があります）。だから、何を聞いているのかに気を付けなければなりません。私たちは神のことばを聞かなければならないとパウロは教えています。他の英語訳では「神のことば」、「キリストの福音のことば」、「神（エロヒム）のことば（レーマ）、などとも訳されています。そして、パウロは言っています。「しかし、信じたことのない方を、どのようにして呼び求めるのでしょうか。聞いたことのない方を、どのようにして信じるのでしょうか。宣べ伝える人がいなければ、どのようにして聞くのでしょうか。遣わされることがなければ、どのようにして宣べ伝えるのでしょうか」（14,15節 SKY2017）。まず、私たちが神のことば、福音のことばを聞いて、信仰によって応答しなければなりません。しかし、そこで留めてはいけません。されに、私たちも、神のことば、福音のことばを語り、分かち合わなければなりません。パウロは預言者イザヤのことばを引用して言っています。「なんと美しいことか、良い知らせを伝える人たちの足は」と書いてあるようにです」（15 SKY2017）。私たちの耳と心を神のみことばで満たし、信仰によって応答しましょう。さらにほかの人にも神のことばを分かち合い、彼らも信仰によって応答することができるためです。「なぜ、あなたがたは、食糧にもならないもののために金を払い、腹を満たさないもののために労するのか。わたしによく聞き従い、良いものを食べよ。そうすれば、あなたがたは脂肪で元気づく。耳を傾け、わたしのところに出て来い。聞け。そうすれば、あなたがたは生きる」（イザヤ55:2-3 SKY2017； 10-11節も参照）。神のことばを飢え渇き、慕いましょう。信仰がわきます。

Observation

Paul gives us the key to responding to God and His word, Faith.  Hebrews tells us, “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” (Heb 4:2 NKJV).  Faith comes from what we hear (we tend to believe what we hear, especially if we hear it often enough).  That is why it is vital what we are listening to. Paul tells us we need to be listening to the Word of God.  Other translations say, “the word of Christ” (ESV), “the Good News about Christ” (NLT), “the word (rhema) of God (Elohim) (ERRB). So Paul says, “ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” (v.14-15 ESV).  First we must hear the Word of God and the Gospel of Christ and respond in faith.  But then we must also preach (declare, speak) the word of God and the Gospel to others so that they can also hear and respond in faith.  That is why Paul quotes the prophet Isaiah, “ As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (v.15) Let’s fill our ears and heart with the Word of God so that we can respond in faith.  But then also share that word of Christ with others so that they also can respond with faith.  “ Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live.” (Isa 55:2 -3 ESV; see also v.10-11). Let’s be hungry for the Word and seek it.  Faith will well up within us.
