エゼキエル 36:23 （新改訳SKY17） わたしは、あなたがたが国々の間で汚したわたしの大いなる名が、聖であることを示す。あなたがたが彼らのただ中で汚した名である。わたしが彼らの目の前に、わたしがあなたがたのうちで聖であることを示すとき、国々は、わたしが主であることを知る──神である主のことば──。

コメント
神がご自身とその贖いの恵みを世界の国々にあらわし示すためにイスラエルを選びました。でも、イスラエルは神に背を向け、主なる神を、また与えられたすべての恵みを汚し、冒し、主の名を冒とくしました。それは、主なる神とその立法に背を向け、無視し、他の神々や偶像を追い求めました。また、神が与えた約束の地をも「罪のない者の血（無実な者の血）を流し、その地を汚したのです。主は決してこれらのことをほっといておかれません。しかし、主なる神は必ず、ご自分を世界の人々の間であがめられ、聖なるものとされるようにと働かれると言われました。特に、ご自身に背を向けた、汚されているイスラエルの民に対して、贖いの恵みを表わし、それによって、主こそ「わたしは主であることを」すべての人々が知るようになると宣言しています。同じように主は私たちをも見捨てず、贖いの恵みをもって働き、すべての人々が、「わたしが主であることを知る」ことを知るようになされます。

Eze 36:23 NIV84  And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD,” says the Lord GOD, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes.

Observation
Although Israel was God’s chosen nation from among all the people, and though God’s purpose for Israel was to show his greatness and amazing goodness and grace to mankind, Israel totally turned her back on God and even profaned (i.e. misused (anything that should be held in reverence or respect);  treated (anything sacred) with irreverence or contempt) the name of God among the nations. They did this by turning away from God and his laws and also by worshipping other gods and idols.  They also polluted the land with the shedding of innocent blood which God abhors and will never leave undealt with.  But now Lord God says that that He would be hallowed (made holy) in the eye of the nations of the world, using his redemptive love and grace toward Israel.  Then “the nations shall know that I am the Lord.” God has not abandoned his people Israel.  Nor will he abandon you.  Let His redemptive grace turn others to “know that I am the Lord God.”
