今日のことば
エゼキエル 36:32 (新改訳SKY17)　 わたしが事を行うのは、あなたがたのためではない──神である主のことば──。そのことをあなたがたは知っていなければならない。

コメント
私たちが何かをしたからでもなく、受けるにふさわしいからでもない。ただ、主ご自身と主のことばのゆえに、働き、ことをなしてくださるのです。主はここで、以前イスラエルに約束したこと、父祖たちに語られたことを成就すると言っています。神はご自分の語られた言葉に対して誠実なお方であり、ご自身のためにことをなされます。「それゆえ、イスラエルの家に言え。神である主はこう言われる。イスラエルの家よ。わたしが事を行うのは、あなたがたのためではなく、．．．わたしの聖なる名のためである。」（22節 SKY17; 詩篇115:1； 申命記9:4‐5なども参照）。同じことが私たちにも当てはめられます。私たちの行いや、ふさわしさによって、神から何も受けることはできません。ただ神の恵みによるのです。「神は私たちを救い、また、聖なる招きをもって召してくださいましたが、それは私たちの働きによるのではなく、ご自分の計画と恵みによるものでした。この恵みは、キリスト・イエスにおいて、私たちに永遠の昔に与えら（た）。」（2テモテ 1:9 SKY17）。　「神は、私たちが行った義のわざによってではなく、ご自分のあわれみによって、聖霊による再生と刷新の洗いをもって、私たちを救ってくださいました。5神はこの聖霊を、私たちの救い主イエス・キリストによって、私たちに豊かに注いでくださったのです。」（テトス 3:4-5 SKY17）。

Ezk 36:32 (AMPC)  Not for your sake do I do this, says the Lord God; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your [own] wicked ways, O house of Israel!

Observation
The Lord does not do things for us because we are so good or that we somehow deserve the Lord to do things for us.  It is for his own sake and the sake of his word, his promises that he works in us and for us.  The Lord is promising to do what He promised to Israel and their forefathers, because he is faithful to Himself and what He has said. “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name.”  (v.22, NIV84; see also Psa 115:1; Deut 9:4-5). The same applies to us.  Nothing we have done or can do puts us in a position to receive anything from the Lord. “ by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” (2Tim 1:9 NIV84). “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5  he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:4-5 NIV84)
