詩篇119篇はとてもユニークな詩篇です。詩篇の中で、聖書の中で、圧倒的に最も長い章です。176節。またこの詩は構造的にもユニークです。アクロスティック（折句）という作詩法を用いています。へブル語のアルファベットの22文字を用いて、文章を作っています（新共同訳を参照：詩編 119（アルファベットによる詩）（アレフ）など）。それぞれの分が8節で形成され、その各節は同じヘブル語の文字で始まってみます。この詩篇のもう一つの特徴はほぼすべての節において、神のことばが様々な表現で引用されていることです（律法、定め、掟、道、仰せ、裁き、み言葉など）。この詩篇は神のことばを愛し、私たちの応答に関するものです。「どうすれば、若い人は身も心も　きよく保つことができるのでしょうか。あなたのおことばを読み、その規範に従うことです。11私はおことばを深く味わい、心にたくわえました。それによって罪から遠ざかるためです。」（9，11節 JCB）。「あなたのおきては私の喜びであり、常に忘れることがありません。」（16節 JCB; 97,113, 163節なども参照）。神のことばを愛する者となりましょう。しかし、もっと重要なのはみことばの神を知り、愛することです。「初めにことばがあった。ことばは神とともにあった。ことばは神であった。2この方は、初めに神とともにおられた。4この方にはいのちがあった。このいのちは人の光であった。」　(ヨハネ1:1,2,4 SKY17)

Observation

Psalm 119 is a very unique Psalm.  It is by far the longest chapter in the Bible, 176 verses.  It is also the most poetically structured passage in Psalms and the Bible. The Psalm is built on an acrostic pattern, using each of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet at the beginning of each verse (see 新共同訳: （アルファベットによる詩）（アレフ）など). Each stanza is 8 verses and each verse begins with the same Hebrew alphabet. Another feature is that in almost every verse there is a reference to the word of God: law, precepts, testimonies, ordinances etc. This Psalm is about the Word of God and our love for, response to the Word. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word… 11  I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (v. 9,11 ESV). “I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.” (v.16 ESV; see also v.97,113, 163 etc.). Learn to love the Word of God, but especially get to know the God of the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:1,2,4 ESV)
