Scripture

Psa 119:1-2 (ESV)  Aleph Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD! 2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.

Observation

Psalm 119 is a very unique Psalm.  It is by far the longest chapter in the Bible, 176 verses.  It is also the most poetically structured passage in Psalms and the Bible. The Psalm is built on an acrostic pattern, using each of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet at the beginning of each verse (see æ–°å…±åŒè¨³: (アルファベットã«ã‚ˆã‚‹è©©ï¼‰ï¼ˆã‚¢ãƒ¬ãƒ•)ãªã©). Each stanza is 8 verses and each verse begins with the same Hebrew alphabet. Another feature is that in almost every verse there is a reference to the word of God: law, precepts, testimonies, ordinances etc. This Psalm is about the Word of God and our love for, response to the Word. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word… 11  I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.†(v. 9,11 ESV). “I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.†(v.16 ESV; see also v.97,113, 163 etc.). Learn to love the Word of God, but especially get to know the God of the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.†(John 1:1,2,4 ESV)
