詩篇 119:49-50 （口語訳）　49どうか、あなたのしもべに言われたみ言葉を思い出してください。あなたはわたしにそれを望ませられました。 50あなたの約束はわたしを生かすので、わが悩みの時の慰めです。

神のことばは私たちに希望、慰め、力、励ましを与えてくれます。また、いのちを与え、支えてくれます。へブル書ではなぜ神のことばに望みを置くことができるかを教えてくれます。「約束してくださった方は真実な方ですから、私たちは動揺しないで、しっかりと希望を告白し続けようではありませんか。(へブル10:23 SKY17)。この希望は私たちに慰めを与えてくれます、とくに悩みの時、困難な時に。神のみことばはすべてのいのちの源です。神が語られた時に、それはなるのです（創世記1‐2参照）。イエスは言いました。「わたしがあなたがたに話したことばは、霊であり、またいのちです。」（ヨハネ6:63 SKY17）。へブル書は言っています。「神のことばは生きていて、力があり．．．」（へブル4:12 SKY17）。この詩篇119篇ではみことばに関する数多くの宣言があります。このようにも言っています。「あなたのみことばは　わたしの足のともしび　わたしの道の光です。」（詩篇119:105 SKY17）。

Psa 119:49-50 ESV  Zayin Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. 50  This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.

Observation
God’s Word gives us hope, comfort and gives us (sustains) life.   Hebrew tells us why we can hope in God’s Word and promises. “ So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.” (Heb 10:23 AMPC).  This hope gives us comfort especially in our times of trouble. God’s Word is also the source of all life.  God spoke and it was (see Gen 1-2). Jesus said, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (John 6:63 ESV). Hebrews says, “ For the word of God is living and active…” (Heb 4:12 ESV). This is why Psalms 119 makes so many declarations about the Word of God.  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalms 119:105 NIV84)
