1歴代誌 18:8（新改訳SKY17）　またダビデは、ハダドエゼルの町ティブハテとクンから、非常に多くの青銅を奪い取った。これを用いて、ソロモンは、青銅の「海」や柱、および青銅の器を作った。

1Ch 18:8 NIV84 From Tebah and Cun, towns that belonged to Hadadezer, David took a great quantity of bronze, which Solomon used to make the bronze Sea, the pillars and various bronze articles.

Observation
God gave David victory over all his surrounding enemies: Philistines, Moabites, Arameans etc. In particular, he fought and defeated the king of Zobah (part of northern Syria) and took much spoil.  This included a great amount of bronze (more than could be weighed). Here the recorder of Chronicles gives commentary that this would later be used to make the great bronze sea (to store water for the priest’s cleansing and the washing of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. See 1Chro 22:14; 2Chro 4:2-6, 12-18 etc.).  The Lord was not just enriching and prospering David for himself, but to help him in making preparations for the building of the Temple which he was not allowed to build himself but that his son Solomon would build (remember, one of the main themes of Chronicles is the Temple and Israel’s attitude towards it).  Later David tells Solomon, “I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them.” (1Chro 22:14 NIV84; see also 1Chro 29:1-2 etc.)  The Lord has promised to bless his people but it is not just for themselves, it is for the purpose of the Kingdom of God and its expansion. We are admonished to, “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” (Pro 3:9-10 NLT; see also Mal 3:10-12 etc.)  God prospers us for a purpose. We are blessed to be a blessing.
