(English Following)

Scripture
1Ch 23:28-30 (NLT) The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the LORD. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God. 29 They were in charge of the sacred bread that was set out on the table, the choice flour for the grain offerings, the wafers made without yeast, the cakes cooked in olive oil, and the other mixed breads. They were also responsible to check all the weights and measures. 30 And each morning and evening they stood before the LORD to sing songs of thanks and praise to him.

Observation
God had set the tribe of Levi apart to serve him and his Tabernacle (see Num 3:6-9; Deut 10:8).  Now David is organizing them to serve in the new Temple that will replace the Tabernacle. The Priests who were also of the tribe of Levi ministered in the Tabernacle and then in the Temple directly.  The rest of the Levites were assigned various duties throughout the Temple and related work.  There were also some that were specifically designated to be “officials and judges”, administering the legal and making judgments according to the Law (see 23:4). Although in the NT we are called to be Priests and Kings in the Kingdom of God, we are also called to be servants in the Kingdom and the House of the Lord. “ Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” (Rom 12:4-5 NIV84; see also 1Cor 12:12-14; 20; 27-28 etc.)  As a member of the Body of Christ we each have a calling, giftings and service to fulfill.  When we do our part (no matter how seemingly small or insignificant) the whole body functions and fulfills its purpose.  Remember we are not only priests but also Levites in service to our Lord and to the House of the Lord.  Find your place and fulfill it faithfully.
