ダビデの幕屋と後にはソロモンの神殿のためにダビデ王は賛美隊と楽器隊を聖別し、組織化しました。特にアサフ、へマン、エドトン（別名エタン）の三人をその家族と共に「竪琴と琴とシンバルに合わせて預言する者」として任命し、専念するように命じました。彼らの務めは預言的なものでもあったことは、その預言的賛美が詩篇にも記録されていることです（アサフの詩篇　50、73‐83篇；　へマンの詩篇　88篇、エドトンの詩篇 39,62,77篇、エタンの詩篇 89篇など参照）。もう一つ興味深いことはこの任命は軍の長たちによっても定められたことです。彼らの働き、賛美、礼拝、預言などは霊的な戦いとして重要なものであることをも意味します。後に、ヨシャパテ王も賛美、礼拝、預言は主の戦いのために重要な要素として認め実施しました（2歴代誌 20:17-22参照）。新約聖書において、パウロはこのように促しました。「むしろ、御霊に満たされなさい。19 詩と賛美と霊の歌をもって互いに語り合い、主に向かって心から賛美し、歌いなさい。20 いつでも、すべてのことについて、私たちの主イエス・キリストの名によって、父である神に感謝しなさい。」（エペソ 5:18-20 SKY17； ヘブル 13:15も参照）。預言の最も基本的な要素は神のことばを宣言することです（「．．．主が言われる．．．」。そして、私たちの宣言は天の軍勢を解き放つものです。私たちもこの勤めを求めるべきです（1コリント 14:1参照）。別のところでパウロは教えています。「私たちの戦いの武器は肉のものではなく、神のために要塞を打ち倒す力があるものです。5私たちは様々な議論と、神の知識に逆らって立つあらゆる高ぶりを打ち倒し、また、すべてのはかりごとを取り押さえて、キリストに服従させます。」私たちの賛美は霊的な武器です。

1Chro 25:1,6 NIV84  David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service: … 6  All these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king.

Observation
David sets apart and organizes the singers and musicians for the Tabernacle of David and eventually for the Temple of Solomon. These three men Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun (elsewhere Ethan) and their families are to dedicate their time and efforts “for the ministry of prophesying accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals”.  The fact that their ministry was indeed prophetic is proven by the Psalms that are attributed or associated with these men (Psalms 50, 73-83, Asaph; Psalm 88, Heman; Psalms 39,62,77, Jeduthun; Psalm 89, Ethan).  Another interesting thought is that these men were appointed and set apart not only by David but along with the commanders of the army, it was a military decision as well.  They recognized the importance of spiritual warfare by singing, worshiping, prophesying etc. Later we see that Jehoshaphat also recognized the importance of singing and praise in warfare (see 2Chro 20:17-22). In the NT we are also instructed to, “… but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. 19 Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, 20 At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.” (Eph 5:17-20 AMPC; see also Heb 13:15 etc.). Prophecy is also in its most basic essence a declaration of the Word of God (“Thus says the Lord”) and it is our decrees that activate the Angel Armies.  This is a ministry that we need and must seek after (see 1Cor 14:1 etc.).  Paul also tells us, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”  (2Cor 10:4-5 ESV). Our praises are spiritual weapons.
