雅歌 8:6-7 (SKY17) 封印のように、私をあなたの胸に、 封印のように、あなたの腕に押印してください。 愛は死のように強く、 ねたみはよみのように激しいからです。 その炎は火の炎、すさまじい炎です。 大水もその愛を 消すことができません。 奔流もそれを押し流すことができません。 もし、人が愛を得ようとして 自分の財産をことごとく与えたなら、 その人はただの蔑みを受けるだけです。

結婚は愛の契約（誓約）関係です。創造主なる神が結婚を企画し、男と女が結婚という枠組みの中で共に愛を分かち合い、楽しみ、喜ぶことができるために造られました（創世記 2:22-25参照）。その契約の約束の中で愛の麗しい満足する親密さを味わうことができますが、その枠外では同じ親密さは破壊と崩壊をもたらし、互いにまたほかの者にも痛みをもたらすものとなります。主なる神はこの結婚契約の中の男と女の間の愛の関係はまたキリストの教会（また私たち）との関係をも描写しています。「それゆえ、男は父と母を離れ、その妻と結ばれ、ふたりは一体となるのである。」 この奥義は偉大です。私は、キリストと教会を指して言っているのです。 それはそれとして、あなたがたもそれぞれ、自分の妻を自分と同じように愛しなさい。妻もまた、自分の夫を敬いなさい。 (エペソ5:31-33 SKY17)。黙示録の最後の場面（聖書の最後）に偉大な婚礼の祝宴が描かれ、花婿なるイエス（神の子羊）と花嫁（キリストの教会）が結ばれ、祝うのです（黙示録 19:7-9 参照）。さらに、新天新地においてもこの関係が続き花嫁はその愛する花婿と共に永遠に生きるのです。「私はまた、聖なる都、新しいエルサレムが、夫のために飾られた花嫁のように整えられて、神のみもとから、天から降って来るのを見た。 私はまた、大きな声が御座から出て、こう言うのを聞いた。 「見よ、神の幕屋が人々とともにある。 神は人々とともに住み、人々は神の民となる。 神ご自身が彼らの神として、ともにおられる。」 (黙示録 21:2-3 SKY17)。私たちの人間的な結婚関係を守りながら、最終的な我らの主なる神、主イエスキリストとの究極的な契約関係を期待し待ち望みましょう。

SS 8:6-7 (NLT)  Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. 7  Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned.

Observation
Marriage is to be a covenant of love. God is the one who designed and created man and woman to share love and all of its enjoyments and delights within the boundary of the marriage covenant (see Gen 2:22-25).  Within that commitment and covenant all of love’s intimacy is beautiful and fulfilling; but outside of the covenant of marriage physical intimacy is destructive and brings hurt and damage. God even uses this picture of the love of a man and woman in the covenant of marriage as a picture of his love and relationship with us, the Church of Jesus Christ. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Eph 5:31-33 NIV84). The final scene of Revelations (and of the Bible) is this great marriage feast for which the Bride has made herself ready and her bridegroom Jesus (the Lamb of God) are being united (see Rev 19:7-9). Even in the New Heavens and New Earth, this relationship will continue, the Bride and her beloved (the Lord God) will live together for eternity. “Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Rev 21:2 NIV84).  Let us protect our personal human covenant relationships of marriage as we also look forward to their ultimate fulfillment in our covenantal relationship with our God and Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
