今日のことば
アモス 3:1-2 （新改訳SKY17）　「イスラエルの子らよ、聞け。主があなたがたについて告げた、このことばを。わたしがエジプトの地から連れ上った、あなたがたすべての部族についてのことばを。 2わたしは、地のすべての種族の中から、あなたがただけを選び出した。それゆえ、あなたがたのすべての咎のゆえに　わたしはあなたがたを罰する。」

コメント
主はご自分の民イスラエルに対するその心を現しています。まず、第一にイスラエルを愛しているのは、自らご自分の民としてイスラエルを選ばれたからです（創世記 12:1-3; 出エジプト記 19:5-6など参照）。しかし、愛の父親だからこそ子供が不良にふるまうときには懲らしめて、正しくふるまうようにしつけるのです。神の懲らしめもご自分の民を正しい道に戻らせるように、また、良い親密な関係を持つことができるようになるためです。「わが子よ、主の懲らしめを拒むな。その叱責を嫌うな。父がいとしい子を叱るように、主は愛する者を叱る。」（箴言 3:11-12 SKY17）。その目的は痛みつけるためでもなく、はずかしめるためでもありません。かえって、正しい道に歩ませて、彼らの生活に良い実を結ばせるためです。へブル書も同じように言っています。「主はその愛する者を訓練し、受け入れるすべての子に、むちを加えられるのだから。」 (へブル12:6 SKY17)。続けて言っています。「さらに、私たちには肉の父がいて、私たちを訓練しましたが、私たちはその父たちを尊敬していました。それなら、なおのこと、私たちは霊の父に服従して生きるべきではないでしょうか。10肉の父はわずかの間、自分が良いと思うことにしたがって私たちを訓練しましたが、霊の父は私たちの益のために、私たちをご自分の聖さにあずからせようとして訓練されるのです。11すべての訓練は、そのときは喜ばしいものではなく、かえって苦しく思われるものですが、後になると、これによって鍛えられた人々に、義という平安の実を結ばせます。(へブル12:9-11 SKY17)。父なる神の愛の胸に抱かれるために立ち返りましょう。

Amo 3:1-2 (AMPC)  HEAR THIS word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt: 2  You only have I known (chosen, sympathized with, and loved) of all the families of the earth; therefore I will visit upon you all your wickedness and punish you for all your iniquities.

Observation
The Lord is expressing His heart towards His people Israel. First and foremost He loves Israel because he chose them to be His people (see Gen 12:1-3; Exo 19:5-6). But just as a loving father must discipline his children when they misbehave, God’s disciple is to bring His people back into right and intimate relationship with him. “My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” (Pro 3:11-12 NIV84).  The purpose is not to hurt or humiliate the child but to bring the correction that will lead them to walk in God’s ways and to produce good fruit in their lives. Hebrews tells us the same. “The Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” (Heb 12:6 NIV84).  It goes on to say, “ Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (Heb 12:9-11 NIV84) Let’s return to the loving embrace of our Father God.
