エゼキエル 39:12-13 （新改訳SKY17）　七か月間、イスラエルの家は、その地をきよめるために彼らを埋め続ける。13その国のすべての民が埋める。こうして、わたしの栄光が現されるとき、そのことは彼らにとって名誉となる──神である主のことば──。

コメント
イスラエルの主なる神は彼らのために大勝利を得られました。絶体絶命の危機から驚くべき勝利に代わりました。しかし、イスラエル人は彼らの地に倒れ、汚していた敵の死体をほうむり、地を清めなければなりませんでした。それは大仕事で七か月もかかると言われました（14節も参照）。「神はイスラエルの人々にこの働きを任じられたのは主がその敵に対してどれほど大きなことをなされたかを完全に理解するためでした。十字架においてキリストは私たちのために罪をうち敗かされました。私たちは罪の支配下と力のもとにはもはやありません。しかし、私たちがイエスを信じ神にすべてをゆだねるときに、その罪の結果や私たちの葛藤などすぐに取り除かれない者もあります。その罪の結果を清める（クリーンアップ）しなければなりません。それは、主が私たちのためにどれほど大きな御業をなされ、神の力によってのみ成し遂げられたことを私たちが理解するためです。」（英語、リビングライフのみことばから）。パウロはこのようにも言いました。「愛する者たち。このような約束を与えられているのですから、肉と霊の一切の汚れから自分をきよめ、神を恐れつつ聖さを全うしようではありませんか。」（2コリント 7:1 SKY17；6:17‐18も参照）。ヤコブも言っています。「神に近づきなさい。そうすれば、神はあなたがたに近づいてくださいます。10主の御前でへりくだりなさい。そうすれば、主があなたがたを高く上げてくださいます。(ヤコブ 4:8、10 SKY17；テトス2：11‐14; 1ペテロ 1:22なども参照)。私たちにも働きがあります。しかしそれは救われるためではなく、聖霊様と協力して、贖いの結果を受け取り聖化（きよめられ、聖なるものとなる）働きにかかわることです。

Ezk 39:12-13 ESV  For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. 13 All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I show my glory, declares the Lord GOD.

Observation
The Lord God of Israel has just shown they will be given a great victory.  What seemed like certain defeat and annihilation will be turned in to stunning victory.  But the Israelites still have to go through the land and cleanse it by burying all the corpses of the fallen enemy. It will take them a long time (seven months to complete this task (see also v.14).  “He ordains that the Israelites do this work so that they fully understand what happened to God’s enemies. At the cross, Christ defeated sin for us.  We are no longer under its power.  However, God does not undo all of sin’s consequences or all our struggles with it the moment we give our lives to Him.  He gives us the task of cleaning up so that we may understand what He has done for us and why it was only possible with His power.” (Living Life Reflections, Our Work in the Fight; 39:11-16). Paul says it this way, “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.” (2Cor 7:1 ESV; see also 6:17-18 etc.). James says, “ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” (Jam 4:8,10 ESV; see also Tit 2:11-14; 1 Pet 1:22 etc.). We have work to do, not to gain our salvation but to implement the work of redemption and sanctification (process of becoming purified and holy).
